Industry rules allow residual payments for some later uses of covered productions, but those general rules do not establish Radcliffe’s contract terms or payment history.
How could the films generate payments after their original release?
Initial acting compensation
An actor’s initial compensation is distinct from payments that may arise later. The fact that a film remains popular or earns revenue does not, by itself, show that an actor is entitled to a continuing share of that revenue. Radcliffe’s specific agreements for the films are not publicly established here.
Residuals for later uses
SAG-AFTRA describes residuals as additional compensation paid to performers when a production is used beyond the original use covered by the initial compensation. Its guidance identifies categories that include television, cable, video/DVD, new media, and theatrical productions. It also explains that theatrical films may generate residuals when later released on DVD, on-demand, television, or new media.
Those rules make later-use payments a possibility, including in connection with certain streaming or broadcast uses. They do not prove that Radcliffe receives a residual for a particular showing or stream: that depends on applicable agreements and the production’s circumstances.

Are residuals the same as foreign royalties?
No. SAG-AFTRA distinguishes foreign royalties from residuals, explaining that foreign royalties arise under foreign laws and collecting-society agreements. The existence of those systems does not establish that Radcliffe qualifies for a payment or currently collects one.
What does the reported $95.6 million figure mean?
Fortune reported an estimate of about $95.6 million in total earnings from the Harry Potter franchise in 2024. That is a media-reported estimate, not an audited personal financial disclosure. It is not a figure for current annual income and does not show that Radcliffe continues to receive royalties or residuals today.

What can be said about his current income?
The available public evidence establishes that residual mechanisms exist and that a historical estimate of Radcliffe’s franchise earnings has been reported. It does not establish his private contract terms, eligibility for specific payments, payment records, or current Harry Potter-related income. There is also no verified first-person statement here in which Radcliffe describes receiving such payments now.
So the careful answer is that he could still receive payments tied to later uses if the relevant agreements and rules provide for them, but whether he does—and any amount—remains unconfirmed publicly.
