The werewolf “I Voted” sticker was a winner in Michigan’s first statewide sticker-design contest in 2024. Jane Hynous, then a Brownell Middle School student from Grosse Pointe, created the design officially listed as “Werewolf I voted sticker.” It was one of nine winning designs selected for the November 2024 election—not a winner in Michigan’s separate 2026 contest.
Who designed Michigan’s werewolf “I Voted” sticker?
Jane Hynous of Grosse Pointe designed the werewolf sticker while she was a student at Brownell Middle School. Michigan’s Department of State lists its official entry name as “Werewolf I voted sticker.” The vivid description of a werewolf clawing or shredding its shirt refers to the artwork, not to the state’s formal title for it. How did it win?
Michigan held its first statewide “I Voted” sticker-design contest in 2024. The state reported receiving more than 480 submissions. The Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force narrowed the designs to 25 semifinalists in each of three categories, and the public chose three winners per category. More than 57,700 votes were cast, according to the Department of State’s September 2024 announcement.
Hynous’s werewolf won in the elementary/middle-school category. The other categories were high school and general. The state announced nine winners total and said local clerks could order the designs to give to voters in the November 2024 election. Michigan Department of State, September 4, 2024

Why is the sticker being described as viral?
The design drew attention for its unusual monster imagery, a departure from the familiar flag-style “I Voted” sticker. Michigan Public described the werewolf as “ripping its shirt off” and reported that it caught viral attention. That supports “viral” as a description of its reception, but the available reporting does not quantify its online reach or establish that it affected voter turnout. Michigan Public, June 3, 2026; corrected August 19, 2026
Is it one of Michigan’s new 2026 stickers?
No. Michigan announced a new set of winners for the 2026 contest, a separate cycle from the 2024 competition. The 2026 elementary/middle-school winners are “Let me sleep,” a frog design and a space bunny; the high-school winners are Michigan license plate, Michigan landscape and Edmund Fitzgerald designs; and the general-category winners are “No, yeah,” Superman ice cream and construction barrels. The current state contest page says the 2026 vote is closed and that winning designs are available for clerks to order for the November election. Michigan Department of State, current contest page

The state said local clerks could order the 2024 winning designs for distribution in the November 2024 election, and AP reported on their use that year. Those sources establish that the sticker existed and was distributed, but they do not confirm current clerk stock, authorized resale, reproduction rights or availability from a particular seller.
