The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children took a private skiing holiday in the French Alps. Paris Match published long-lens photographs of the family in April 2025; a French court later found that publication of the article and images infringed their privacy and image rights. Catherine, Princess of Wales, had announced in January that she was in remission, but the exact dates of the holiday have not been established.
What is known about the family ski holiday
Reporting identified the destination as the French Alps and said the trip involved Prince William, Catherine and their children. The holiday was private. The available reporting does not establish the precise resort, the exact dates, or a full itinerary, so the April publication date should not be treated as the date the family travelled.
The Royal Household says the Court Circular is “the official record of past royal engagements.” It records official engagements, not every private family activity, so it is not a complete log of where the family travelled. Royal Household: Court Circular
How the photographs became a legal issue
Paris Match published long-lens photographs of the holiday in April 2025. Kensington Palace described the article and images as “a grossly intrusive article and long-lens paparazzi photographs of their private family holiday.” The family pursued legal action in France, and the Nanterre Judicial Court found that publication of the article and photographs infringed their privacy and image rights, according to the Associated Press’s October 30, 2025 report. The finding concerned publication of the holiday material. It was not a ruling about Catherine’s health, the family’s reasons for travelling, or the truth of other tabloid claims.
How the holiday relates to Catherine’s remission announcement
On January 14, 2025, during a visit to the Royal Marsden, where she had received treatment, Catherine publicly said she was in remission and remained focused on recovery: “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery.” The Associated Press reported that she had completed chemotherapy in September 2024; her cancer type was not disclosed in that report. The announcement came before the April publication of the ski-holiday photographs. The available sources do not establish when the trip took place, however, so they do not support a more exact timeline or a claim that the holiday was a medical milestone. Remission should not be described as being cured.

Catherine also made an unannounced visit to the Lake District in March 2025 and later discussed the personal meaning of nature in a video, as reported by The Independent on April 15. That was a separate public engagement, not evidence about the dates or circumstances of the French Alps holiday. The Independent: Lake District visit
