Perth influencer Gracie Piscopo described a rebrand of her jewellery line as “a new chapter” after “some really tough times in my life,” PerthNow reported on 10 September 2024. The story referred to her former partner, Andre Rebelo, as having been accused of murder; a jury later found him guilty of murdering his mother, and ABC News reported in September 2025 that he hoped to appeal.
What Piscopo said about the rebrand
PerthNow reported that Piscopo renamed her jewellery line With Romi as Romi. In an Instagram announcement quoted by the outlet, she wrote, “There’s a new girl in town, meet @romi,” and said the change “feels like a new chapter” after “some really tough times in my life.”
The report did not specify what Piscopo meant by “tough times.” It also said she shares a son with Rebelo. Her quoted words describe the rebrand and her own general experience; they do not establish further details about her circumstances.
What happened in the murder case
The September 2024 story appeared while the case against Rebelo was still unresolved. On 5 December 2024, ABC News reported that a Western Australian Supreme Court jury found him guilty of murdering his mother, Colleen Rebelo, after an eight-week trial. ABC News said he was remanded pending sentencing at that time.

On 4 September 2025, ABC News reported that Rebelo was hoping to appeal his conviction. That report does not establish whether an appeal was subsequently filed, heard or decided, so the later status of the case remains unclear here.
How the headline fits the timeline
“Accused” reflects the legal position at the time of PerthNow’s September 2024 report. The jury’s guilty verdict came later, in December 2024. The subsequent report about a hoped-for appeal is not evidence that the conviction was overturned or that an appeal was completed.
