Colby’s own reported recollections offer a more personal glimpse. In an interview with Newsweek, reported by TV Insider on July 6, 2025, Colby said: “Boy, we miss Frank. We miss his laughter. Those remarks describe affection and loss, as well as a friendship that included occasional personal warmth. They do not establish a romantic relationship or provide a basis for claiming that Colby and Fritz had a falling-out.

Why do reports about a feud often come up?
The better-documented conflict was between Fritz and fellow co-host Mike Wolfe, not between Fritz and Colby. Fritz co-hosted the show with Wolfe until 2021, according to TV Insider. In a February 2026 interview, Wolfe said, “We loved each other. That history should not be attributed to Colby. The cited accounts do not document a comparable dispute between Colby and Fritz.

What happened to Frank Fritz?
The Associated Press reported that Fritz died on September 30, 2024, at age 60, and that Wolfe was at his bedside. AP also reported that Fritz had suffered a stroke in 2022, citing his longtime friend Annette Oberlander; do not read that as a source-supported cause of death.
