A24’s official I Saw the TV Glow trailer was published on February 28, 2024, ahead of a May 3 theatrical release date announced at the time. It introduces a supernatural story about a teenager drawn into a mysterious late-night television show—and the way that show begins to unsettle his grasp of reality. Jane Schoenbrun wrote and directed the film.
What the trailer introduces
The trailer follows Owen, a teenager whose classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night show. A24’s official synopsis describes the program as depicting “a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own.” As the television’s pale glow enters Owen’s life, his view of reality begins to crack. The premise points toward a coming-of-age story shaped by eerie television imagery and supernatural uncertainty, without requiring the viewer to know more than the official setup.
A24 published the official trailer on February 28, 2024. Its description advertised a May 3 theatrical release; that was the date in the 2024 campaign, not a current release listing.
Writer, director, and cast credits
Jane Schoenbrun wrote and directed the film. A24’s current film page lists Justice Smith, Jack Haven, Ian Foreman, Helena Howard, Fred Durst, and Danielle Deadwyler among the cast. The trailer description instead credits Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine. Because the sources use different names for that cast credit, it is most accurate to preserve each source’s wording rather than treat them as interchangeable without explanation.

In an A24 note, Schoenbrun offers first-person context about writing the screenplay during their transition. That account adds personal context to the project; it need not be treated as the sole interpretation of the film.
