Its title nods to her January 1, 2000 birthday, and its 10-song, 23-minute original edition captures a concise snapshot of the Bronx rapper’s move from a viral breakthrough to major collaborations and high-profile performances.
What is Ice Spice’s Y2K! album?
Y2K! is Ice Spice’s first full-length album, issued through 10K Projects, Capitol Records and Universal Music Canada on July 26, 2024. The title refers to her birthday: January 1, 2000. Universal Music Canada’s announcement supplies the release and title context.
Apple Music lists the original album at 10 songs and 23 minutes. That compact length makes the record a brief, focused entry point rather than a sprawling career survey. This is a description of its format, not evidence of a critical consensus about whether the brevity is a strength or a limitation. Apple Music’s album listing identifies the original edition.
Who appears on the album, and what shapes its sound?
Longtime collaborator RIOTUSA produced “Gimmie A Light,” which samples Sean Paul’s 2002 track “Gimme the Light.” Apple Music names Travis Scott on “Oh Shhh…” and Gunna on “Bitch I’m Packin’”; Universal Music Canada also announced Central Cee’s appearance on “Did It First.” These credits place the album’s collaborations alongside a familiar production partnership rather than suggesting a single guest-driven concept.

In its release-day copy, Universal Music Canada described the beats as bass-heavy and Ice Spice’s delivery as “precise no-frills.” The label release also says the album “endlessly demonstrates what Pitchfork has hailed as Ice Spice’s ‘diabolical knack for hooks’”—a characterization attributed within the release to Pitchfork, not an independent assessment made here. The label’s July 26 release includes that description and the “Did It First” announcement.
How did Ice Spice move from viral breakout to mainstream visibility?
Universal Music Japan’s biography places Ice Spice’s breakout with “Munch (Feelin’ U)” in fall 2022. The track brought her to a wider audience; the label’s 2024 album announcement reported nearly 120 million Spotify streams for it at that time. That is a historical, label-published figure, not a current total.

The biography traces a quick sequence of career milestones: “In Ha Mood” and “Gangsta Boo,” the “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” collaboration, “Princess Diana,” Taylor Swift’s “Karma,” and “Barbie World.” It also notes that Ice Spice opened 12 dates of Doja Cat’s Scarlet Tour and appeared at Coachella in April 2024. Those dated milestones show the widening reach of her work and bookings; they do not establish a private work routine or a single formula for fame. Universal Music Japan’s biography recounts the sequence.
Universal Music Canada said in July 2024 that Ice Spice had accumulated more than 2.5 billion streams by the time of its announcement and had received four nominations for the 66th annual Grammy Awards. Those were nominations, not wins, and the streaming figure is the label’s then-current milestone rather than a live count. The Associated Press’s June 5, 2024 report also covered her album announcement and Grammy context.

How do the original and deluxe editions differ?
| Edition | Release | Track count | Format information established by the cited sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Y2K! (original) | July 26, 2024 | 10 songs; Apple Music lists a 23-minute runtime | Universal Music Japan lists an imported one-LP vinyl edition and a separate limited-store LP variant. |
| Y2K!: I’m Just A Girl (Deluxe) | December 25, 2024 | Five additional tracks, per Universal Music Japan | The cited announcement describes a digital deluxe release; no deluxe vinyl pressing is established by these sources. |
The distinction matters when comparing track counts or shopping: the original album’s vinyl listing does not establish that the LP includes the later bonus tracks. The deluxe release date and added songs are documented by Universal Music Japan’s December 2024 announcement.

Yes. Universal Music Japan lists an imported one-LP edition of Y2K! with an August 30, 2024 date, as well as a separate limited-store LP variant. That confirms a physical release existed; it does not establish present-day stock, price, or which edition a marketplace currently offers. Check the listing details before buying.
