At D23 in August 2026, Jackman reportedly told Kevin Feige he was willing to appear as Wolverine, but the Associated Press described his answer as not definitive. That is a real reason for renewed speculation—not confirmation that he has joined the film.
Is Wolverine in Avengers: Doomsday?
Jackman’s reported willingness to appear is the strongest new signal behind the rumor. The Associated Press reported on the D23 exchange, but did not present it as a casting announcement or provide a verbatim quote. It would therefore be inaccurate to say Jackman confirmed he will return as Wolverine.

Disney’s UK cast guide, dated October 5, 2026, names many performers but does not include Jackman among the confirmed cast. Disney also says some cast and characters remain a mystery. The public list may not be complete: GamesRadar+ reported that director Anthony Russo said the full cast had not been announced. An incomplete list leaves room for future news, but is not evidence that Jackman is involved.
Why the rumor has gained traction
Doomsday already brings back several performers associated with earlier X-Men films. Disney’s guide lists Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming and Kelsey Grammer, along with Channing Tatum as Gambit. Jackman’s reported openness to appearing alongside that group makes the theory easy to understand. Their confirmed involvement, however, does not establish his.

What is confirmed about Avengers: Doomsday
- At D23 in August 2026, Jackman reportedly said he was willing to appear as Wolverine; AP characterized his response as not definitive.
- Disney’s October 5, 2026 UK guide does not list him among the confirmed cast and notes that some cast and characters remain unknown.
- Disney’s guide does list several returning X-Men-related actors and Tatum as Gambit.
- Disney’s US film page gives a theatrical release date of December 18, 2026; its UK guide lists December 16, 2026. The dates are territory-specific.
Disney describes the story broadly as heroes from three distinct universes facing an existential threat. That synopsis does not identify a Wolverine role or describe a part for Jackman.

A direct announcement from Marvel or Disney, or Jackman’s confirmed inclusion in an official cast update, would change the status from speculation to confirmation. Until then, the careful distinction is simple: he has reportedly expressed willingness, but his casting has not been confirmed in Disney’s published guide.
