Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness finalized their divorce in June 2025, after announcing their separation in 2023. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were not part of that divorce: their separate legal dispute was with Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. The reported connection is limited to Lively’s lawyers listing Jackman among people who might have information about their case.
When did Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness separate and divorce?
Jackman and Furness announced their separation in September 2023, after 27 years of marriage. Their joint statement said: “Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.” The couple also said their family remained their highest priority and that the statement would be their only comment on the breakup, according to The Associated Press.
Furness filed for divorce on May 23, 2025, and the divorce was granted on June 3, ABC News reported, citing Suffolk County Supreme Court records. ABC News’s account is the reported source for those court dates.
What did Furness mean by “betrayal”?
In a May 2025 public statement, Furness wrote: “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.” The Los Angeles Times reported that she did not elaborate on what she meant. The word is Furness’s own description; the statement does not establish a specific cause for the separation or provide details about an allegation. Read the Los Angeles Times report.

Why are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds connected to the divorce story?
They are not parties to Jackman and Furness’s divorce. The separate legal dispute involved Lively and Reynolds on one side, and actor Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios on the other. The limited link to Jackman is that Lively’s legal team identified him in court papers as someone who might have information about the Lively case, AP reported. Being named as a potential source of information does not make him a party or an accused person, and the cited report does not say that he testified. AP’s report on the litigation describes that connection.

Baldoni and Wayfarer countersued Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion. Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed that countersuit in June 2025, AP reported. In the separate Lively action, the court later recorded that the case settled on May 7, 2026, before a trial scheduled for May 18.
In a June 12, 2026 order, Judge Liman granted Lively’s request for fees and costs under California Civil Code § 47.1, while denying treble and punitive damages. The order addressed the remaining fee-and-damages motion after settlement; it was not a finding that every allegation in the underlying action had been proven. The reproduced court opinion sets out the settlement and the ruling.
