Hulk Hogan was met with sustained boos when he appeared on WWE’s first live episode of Raw on Netflix on January 6, 2025. He came out with Jimmy Hart, promoted Real American Beer and praised WWE and Netflix, but contemporaneous coverage did not establish one definitive reason for the crowd’s reaction.
What happened when Hulk Hogan appeared on Raw?
Raw debuted live on Netflix from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, on January 6, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET, according to WWE’s announcement.
During the broadcast, Hogan entered to “Real American” alongside longtime manager Jimmy Hart. The Los Angeles Times reported that Hogan spoke about the fans, Randy Savage, Andre the Giant, his beer and Netflix. The audience booed as he spoke and continued booing as he left. The Times described this as Hogan’s first live television appearance before an audience since his return to live WWE events in 2021.
Was Hulk Hogan promoting beer?
Yes. Hogan was there to promote Real American Beer, according to TheWrap’s January 7, 2025 account. TheWrap also reported that WWE had announced a multi-year partnership with the brand and purchased an ownership stake. That partnership description is TheWrap’s report.

Why was Hulk Hogan booed on WWE Raw’s Netflix debut?
The exact reason is not established by the cited reporting. The Los Angeles Times described Hogan’s reception as unusually negative on a night when the crowd cheered much of the show. It also reported that social-media users speculated about Hogan’s support for Donald Trump. But the same account noted that The Undertaker and WWE figures Paul Levesque and Stephanie McMahon, whom the article connected to Trump, received cheers. That contrast makes it difficult to attribute the reaction to politics alone.
The Times also recalled Hogan’s 2015 controversy after a recording surfaced in which he used a racial slur. WWE removed him from its Hall of Fame, then reinstated him after an apology. That history was relevant context discussed in coverage, but it does not prove why fans in the Intuit Dome booed him on January 6, 2025. Neither a definitive explanation from the audience nor a verified statement from Hogan or WWE explaining this specific reaction appears in the cited accounts.

How big was the Raw Netflix premiere?
WWE reported strong audience and event results in a January 9, 2025 release. These are company-reported figures, and the two audience measures use different definitions:
| Measure | What WWE reported | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Global Live+1 views | 4.9 million | WWE defines Live+1 as total program view hours divided by runtime, its nearest proxy for average minute audience; it does not include co-viewing. The global count excluded 92 territories where Netflix did not yet distribute WWE. |
| U.S. households, Live+SD | 2.6 million | Measured by VideoAmp in 2025, as reported by WWE. WWE compared this with Raw’s average 2024 U.S. audience of 1.2 million households, describing the premiere figure as 116% higher. |
The figures are not directly interchangeable: one is a global viewing-hours-based measure and the other is a U.S. household estimate. WWE also described the Intuit Dome show as sold out, its highest-grossing WWE arena event, and a record-setter for merchandise sales at a non-Premium Live Event. Those event and sales records are WWE’s claims, as reported in its January 9 release.
