Howard Stern said in 2020 that he had barred his longtime friend Ralph Cirella from visiting his home. Stern gave specific reasons for the decision, but the available accounts do not establish whether the ban was still in force when Cirella died in December 2023.
Why did Howard Stern ban Ralph Cirella from his house?
On The Howard Stern Show on June 17, 2020, Stern said his wife, Beth, asked him each summer whether it was time to let Cirella back into their home. Stern said he loved Cirella, but described visits that he found disruptive.

- Stern said Cirella defecated and vomited in the house.
- He said Cirella left carrots and peas in a washing machine.
- He said Cirella insulted their friends.
These are Stern’s explanations for barring Cirella, as recounted on the show; they are not independently verified accounts of what happened. The 2020 discussion indicates the ban was an ongoing subject in the household at that time.
Was Ralph Cirella still banned when he died?
The available accounts do not answer that. Stern discussed the ban in 2020, while the later remembrance of Cirella does not say whether Stern had lifted it before Cirella’s death in December 2023. Stern’s expressions of grief cannot establish the ban’s status.

How did Howard Stern remember Ralph Cirella?
In a December 6, 2023 remembrance, Stern described Cirella as a close friend and longtime stylist. He said, “this guy was my man and he’s like the brother I never had,” and added, “I came to think of Ralph as family.” The remembrance said Cirella died at 58 after a battle with a rare lymphoma.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Cirella died on December 5, 2023, at age 58. The paper said Stern spoke with him from the hospital the night before and recounted Stern’s account that Cirella’s heart gave out during a procedure. The reporting does not support a more specific cause of death here.
