Zac Efron spoke warmly about working with Dwayne Johnson on Baywatch. In a 2017 interview, he called Johnson “a really good dude,” said he had a blast working with him, and described the set as “like a vacation that we got paid for.”
What Zac Efron said about Dwayne Johnson

Efron extended his praise to the wider experience of making the movie: “I’ve never had more fun on a set than we did on Baywatch. It was like a vacation that we got paid for.” Those are Efron’s public remarks about the shoot, rather than independent proof of what either actor privately felt. Read the Pajiba interview.
Johnson motivated Efron to work out
In an Entertainment Tonight set interview published March 2, 2016, Efron said of Johnson: “This guy motivates you to work out. I started following him on Instagram. He’s an animal!” The comment conveys Efron’s admiration for Johnson’s fitness and energy; it was not a product endorsement. Watch the Entertainment Tonight interview.

On-screen friction was between their characters
Efron played Matt Brody, whom he described as “the brash, young recruit.” Brody “doesn’t necessarily see eye to eye with Mitch on many things,” Efron said, referring to Johnson’s character, Mitch Buchannon. That disagreement is part of the scripted relationship between the characters; it is not evidence of a real-life conflict between their actors. Efron’s character description appears in the same set interview.
Efron joked about kissing Johnson
In a June 2, 2017 Sky News interview about the film’s comic kiss between their characters, Efron called it “one off the bucket list” and “unforgettable,” then joked: “How many guys can say they’ve kissed The Rock? I’m gonna wear that as a badge of honour.” The playful answer fits the openly admiring tone of his other public comments, but it was a joke about the scene, not a deeper account of their private relationship. What the interviews establish
Efron’s published comments describe a positive working experience: he praised Johnson, said he enjoyed the shoot, and credited Johnson with motivating him to work out. They offer his account of working together, not a complete record of the co-stars’ private relationship or every moment on set.
