The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS associated with Michael Bay and Transformers: Age of Extinction was sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction in 2016. That historical sale does not show whether the car is for sale now. If you want the exact vehicle, you’ll need to establish its present ownership and sale status independently; if you want a similar car, search for documented 1967 Camaros and verify the vehicle before buying.
Which Bumblebee Camaro is the 1967 car?
The 1967 Camaro is not the battered Camaro from the original 2007 Transformers film. Barrett-Jackson described the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS as a modified resto-mod built for Transformers: Age of Extinction, the franchise’s fourth live-action film, and identified Michael Bay as its owner when the car was listed for auction in 2016. The lot record marks the car sold. Barrett-Jackson’s lot record and its contemporaneous auction article document that history.
The first film used a different Camaro as Bumblebee’s early vehicle form: a 1976–77 model. Michael Bay’s official film page explains the production choice and the character’s later move to a newer Camaro. Michael Bay Official’s Transformers page is useful context, but it does not establish the 1967 car’s current whereabouts.
Can you buy the exact car now?
The available auction record establishes a 2016 sale, not a current listing, asking price, or present owner. It therefore cannot confirm that the exact movie-associated car is available to buy today. If you are pursuing that specific vehicle, use the auction record as a starting point, then seek current ownership and sale information through reliable, independently verifiable channels. Do not assume a listing for another 1967 Camaro—or a later Transformers-branded Camaro—is the same car.

How to find a comparable 1967 Camaro
For a full-size car with a similar era and appearance, search specialist collector-car auctions and listings for a 1967 Camaro SS or another first-generation Camaro. Model year and SS badging alone do not prove a connection to the film or to Bay’s car.
Verify the individual car before committing
- Identity and title: Confirm the vehicle identification details and that the seller can transfer clear title.
- Provenance: Ask for records supporting the car’s ownership history and any claimed connection to a film, production, or celebrity.
- Configuration: Establish which components are original and which were changed, including the drivetrain and body or interior modifications.
- Build and restoration records: Review invoices, photographs, and documentation for restoration or custom work rather than relying on a description alone.
- Condition: Arrange an inspection by an independent specialist familiar with classic Camaros; assess mechanical condition as well as cosmetic presentation.
- Seller evidence: Have the seller substantiate claims with documents and allow appropriate inspection before purchase.
Current inventory and prices are not established here, so compare live listings directly and assess each car on its own documentation, configuration, and condition.

What if you want a fan collectible instead of a car?
For a display item depicting the vehicle, search for a “1967 Chevrolet Camaro model kit” and check the exact product’s subject, scale, and completeness. That phrase is a search suggestion, not a verified current listing.
Hasbro’s Studio Series 49 and Studio Series 27 are official Bumblebee character figures inspired by the first film. They depict transforming character versions, not 1967 Camaro replicas. Product pages are Studio Series 49 and Studio Series 27. Hasbro notes that products are not available everywhere, so check current stock for your region.
