Series creator Tim Miller said he cast him because MrBeast was a fan, the showman role suited his public persona, and the cameo might introduce the anthology to new viewers.
What role did MrBeast play?
He voiced the announcer in “The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur.” Netflix’s Volume 4 episode guide describes the story as a contest on a space station orbiting Jupiter, where aristocrats watch genetically modified gladiators riding engineered dinosaurs. Tim Miller directed the episode, which is based on a short story by Stant Litore.
Volume 4, released on Netflix on May 15, 2025, consists of ten animated shorts presented by Miller and David Fincher, with Jennifer Yuh Nelson returning as supervising director. Netflix frames the collection around animation, horror, science fiction and humor; its episodes range from the dinosaur arena to a puppet recreation of a Red Hot Chili Peppers performance and a cat-centered story. Why did Tim Miller cast MrBeast?
MrBeast was already a fan
In a May 14, 2025 interview with ComingSoon, Miller said, “First and foremost, he’s a huge fan of the show.” Miller added that he had seen posters for the series at MrBeast’s home. That personal interest was part of the explanation, not merely a promotional angle.

The announcer fit his showman persona
Miller described MrBeast as “sort of a master showman” and said the announcer was the kind of character he plays publicly, though the fictional version is more evil. The casting therefore connected MrBeast’s familiar presentation style to the episode’s arena spectacle.
Miller hoped the cameo could reach new viewers
Miller also said, “I’m also really hoping that his inclusion will bring a new audience to the show.” The audience-growth hope complemented the fandom and role-fit reasons; Miller did not describe it as the sole motive. ComingSoon’s May 14 interview contains his comments.

A May 16, 2025 Cartoon Brew report said Miller referred to MrBeast’s following as 340 million while discussing the aim of broadening animation’s reach. That is a historical figure reported by Cartoon Brew, not a current follower count or an independently verified measurement here. Cartoon Brew’s report covers that audience-reach context.
