Millie Bobby Brown has described working with Finn Wolfhard as a relationship built on mutual respect and an ability to work well together. She has also said that joining the boys’ group was difficult at first, but that their friendship came to mean a lot to her. Those comments describe the actors’ rapport—not a real-life romance.
What Brown has said about working with Wolfhard
Asked what it was like to work with Wolfhard now that their characters, Eleven and Mike, were officially dating, Brown said: “We know how to work together really well, and he has respect for girls, for me.” Her answer focuses on professional chemistry and feeling respected. The interview appears on Netflix Queue; its publication date is not established on the page.
How the friendship developed
In a Netflix Tudum retrospective revisiting the cast’s early on-set interviews, Brown recalled that being the only girl in the group was hard at first. “Being the only girl was difficult in the beginning because I didn’t really understand what they were talking about most of the time and they all had their thing,” she said. The boys were into video games and had their own interests, so she said she had to “squeeze my way in there.”
Brown’s reflection ends with a clear statement about what that effort meant to her: “When I did, it was very rewarding because their friendship means a lot to me.” The retrospective also includes footage of her younger self looking forward to meeting Wolfhard and hearing that Eleven would have a connection with Mike. That footage is an early interview revisited later, not a new statement about their relationship.

What Wolfhard has said—and what it means
In a Season 3-era interview with The Independent, Wolfhard described himself and Brown as close and said they had sleepovers on weekends. He discussed that closeness in the context of how their rapport helped them play Mike and Eleven’s relationship. It is evidence of friendship as he described it, not proof of an off-screen romance.
In another Netflix Tudum retrospective, Wolfhard discussed the fictional relationship: “I think that’s what’s so great about the relationship between the both of them. They grow over the eight episodes and they grow together.” He also recalled the cast teasing him about the scripted kiss between Mike and Eleven in the first season, saying, “It was totally fine. It was totally normal.” Both remarks concern the characters and the experience of filming a scene, not a romantic relationship between the actors.

Keep the on-screen romance separate from real life
Mike and Eleven’s romance is part of Stranger Things. Brown’s comments about Wolfhard address working together and respect; her comments about the group describe a friendship that became important to her. Wolfhard’s remarks describe their closeness as castmates and the way they approached their characters. None of these statements establishes that Brown and Wolfhard were romantically involved in real life.

In a May 14, 2026 retrospective on the show’s final chapter, Netflix Tudum describes the series as the culmination of a decade with the Hawkins cast and discusses how the actors’ rapport informed later performances. Brown speaks there about Eleven’s friends as “chosen family,” not specifically about Wolfhard. It provides context for the cast’s long working relationship, but should not be treated as a new personal statement about him.
