Design a Taylor Swift tribute garden as a personal fan interpretation: choose one mood, build a simple structure around it, and select plants for your actual space and climate. There is no official Taylor Swift planting plan, so let botanical imagery and color inspire the design without presenting it as her preferred garden.
Start with a mood, not a plant list
Trying to represent every album, era, and lyric at once can make a small garden feel cluttered. Choose one atmosphere and a restrained palette, then use a few recognizable details to make the reference personal.

- Romantic and abundant: Layer flowers and foliage for a soft, cottage-garden impression.
- Woodland and muted: Favor a quieter mix of foliage, texture, and subdued colors.
- Bright and playful: Use a lively color scheme and a compact focal detail, such as a painted pot or small sign.
These are design directions, not official Taylor Swift themes. A 2025 Annals of Botany article explores botanical elements in her songs and music videos, and her UK store has listed a sunflower sweatshirt bearing the phrase “Secret Gardens in My Mind.” They can prompt ideas, but neither source establishes a canonical garden or a personal favorite plant. Read the botany article and view the UK store item.
Give the garden a clear structure
Even a few pots look intentional when they have a visual anchor, a middle layer, and a lower edge. Scale each part to the available footprint, and leave enough space to reach plants for watering and maintenance.

- Choose one focal point: an arch, trellis, bench, or standout container can carry the main visual reference.
- Add a middle layer: use flowering perennials or shrubs suited to your conditions to provide the garden’s main volume.
- Finish the edge: groundcover or smaller containers can soften the boundary and make a compact layout feel complete.
Keep the reference understated: a chosen planting color, a small sign, or a place to sit may communicate the idea more effectively than several competing decorations.
Choose plants for your site and season
There is no dependable universal Taylor Swift garden plant list. The right choices depend on your region, sunlight, soil, water supply, mature plant size, and how much time you can spend caring for them. Before buying, check a local growing guide or nursery for plants that suit those conditions.
Plan for more than one burst of flowers. Combining plants with different flowering periods and forms can keep the composition interesting through more of the season. If supporting pollinators is a goal, favor simple, open flowers that insects can access, and use the Royal Horticultural Society’s Plants for Pollinators lists to explore selections by plant type and pollinator group. The RHS lists options for small spaces as well as larger gardens.
Adapt the design to your space
For a rented patio or balcony
Use movable pots and one compact focal detail. A container-based design is easier to rearrange and can work where a permanent trellis or planted border is not possible. Choose containers and plants with the site’s light, watering needs, and available space in mind.
For a larger yard
A layered border or trellis can support a more abundant composition. Leave access paths or working space so you can tend the planting without trampling it, and choose plants according to mature size rather than how small they look at purchase.

Pollinator support can be part of the design rather than an add-on: flowering plants can provide forage, while water and nesting opportunities add habitat value. The RHS recommends avoiding outdoor pesticides, providing water, and leaving bare sunny soil for ground-nesting solitary bees. In a small space, a shallow saucer with pebbles and frequently changed water is one option.
A useful example of biodiversity-minded design is the RSPB and RHS Swift Garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2025. Designed by landscape architect Lilly Gomm and horticulturist Coralie Thomas, it combined varied habitats, diverse planting, and features intended to benefit insects and birds. Its listed plants included field maple (Acer campestre), common lime (Tilia × europaea), teasel (Dipsacus fullonum), catmint (Nepeta kubanica), and devil’s-bit scabious (Succisa pratensis). This is a wildlife-garden precedent, not a Taylor Swift plant list. See the RHS garden description.
The RHS reported that UK swift numbers fell 68% between 1995 and 2023, and says swifts depend on healthy insect populations and suitable nesting sites. That statistic describes the UK swift population; it is context for habitat-friendly gardening, not a measure of the impact of tribute gardens. The RHS garden page describes the project, while the RHS swift guidance covers the bird.
Use references as inspiration, not a prescription
The RHS’s Plants for Pollinators guide is a practical starting point for investigating plant choices; the RHS describes it as a seasonal guide from its entomologists and botanists, with an updated list covering over 10,000 plants. It is not a Taylor Swift-branded product or a substitute for checking regional suitability.
For another design cue, landscape architect and garden designer Lilly Gomm said of the Swift Garden: “By showcasing habitats rich in biodiversity and the small changes we can all make – like planting insect-friendly flowers or installing swift boxes – I hope visitors will feel inspired to take action for wildlife in their own gardens.” The statement was published by the RHS on 30 May 2025.
