The often-mentioned $3 million figure was what Sheen said he wanted to earn if he returned, not his reported existing rate. A separate report described a $100 million deal, but that headline figure does not establish how much he ultimately received.
Sheen’s reported salary: about $1.8 million per episode
In 2011, CBS News and the Associated Press reported that Sheen was earning about $1.8 million per episode on the CBS sitcom. The Washington Post also described that amount as his reported rate. These were contemporaneous press reports, not a publicly disclosed payroll record or a verified accounting of his total earnings. CBS News/AP; The Washington Post.

Why $3 million per episode is a different figure
In February 2011, Sheen said he wanted $3 million per episode to return to the show. CBS News described that as a requested increase of $1.2 million per episode over the reported $1.8 million rate. The $3 million figure was a proposed future rate, not evidence that he was already being paid that amount. CBS News/AP; CBS News.
What the reported contract and $100 million deal mean
Contract terms described in lawsuit coverage
The Washington Post reported that Sheen’s lawsuit said a contract executed in May 2010 entitled him to payment whether or not the show filmed, for as many as 24 episodes per season through late 2011. That is a description of what the complaint claimed, not a court finding or a record of the amount actually paid. The Washington Post.

The $100 million headline figure
TheWrap reported in 2011 that Sheen’s manager, Mark Burg, described a $100 million deal following negotiations that included a $72 million offer. The account does not include a payment ledger proving Sheen received $100 million, so the figure should be understood as a reported deal value—not a verified total of cash collected. TheWrap.

Not from these reports alone. They do not establish the complete contract, the exact number of episodes for which Sheen was paid, or any bonuses, residuals, or other compensation. Multiplying the reported episode rate by an episode count—or treating the $100 million deal description as confirmed earnings—would produce a total these sources do not verify.
