For the U.S. Netflix version of The Circle, the advertised winner’s prize in recent seasons is $100,000. That is the competition prize—not a salary paid to every contestant. Public reporting does not establish a standard payment for non-winners, and the current U.S. contributor-agreement terms are not public.
What the $100,000 prize means
Netflix announced a $100,000 cash prize for the U.S. competition in its 2021 season-two announcement, and its 2024 season-six preview again described a $100,000 prize. Those are season-specific winner’s prizes; neither establishes a per-episode fee or a payment to every person in the cast.
Prize amounts can depend on the country and season. Check the official announcement for the particular season rather than assuming the same figure applies across the franchise.
Do non-winning contestants get paid?
Public U.S. coverage reviewed does not verify a standard appearance fee or stipend for non-winners. A January 2023 Showbiz Cheat Sheet report says contestants were not given a weekly or per-episode stipend in the season context it covered. It also reports that travel to England and accommodation were covered. Those are in-kind benefits, not cash earnings, and the article is secondary reporting rather than a published U.S. contract.

A May 2024 Distractify article says no participant had publicly disclosed being paid to take part apart from the chance to win the prize, and infers that contestants likely are not paid. That is the article’s inference, not an official statement from Netflix or proof that every participant received no fee.
Selected participants sign a separate contributor agreement, but its current U.S. terms are not publicly established in the sources reviewed. It is therefore not possible to confirm a guaranteed non-winner payment, rule out individually negotiated terms, or say whether terms changed between seasons.

Why the U.K. figure is different
The Circle is an international franchise, so figures from another country should not be treated as U.S. compensation. In evidence submitted to the U.K. Parliament in 2018, a Studio Lambert contributor-agreement template for the original U.K. series includes a daily-fee field left blank as “£[ ]”. The same document refers to a maximum £50,000 prize for that U.K. contest. The blank field does not disclose an actual fee paid, and neither figure establishes what U.S. contestants earn.

- Winner: the advertised season prize, when won. Recent U.S. season materials cited above list $100,000.
- Non-winner: no standard cash payment is verified in the public U.S. sources reviewed.
- Travel and accommodation: reported as covered in the seasons discussed, but these are not cash compensation.
Netflix’s 2018 format announcement describes the show as a competition in which participants live in separate apartments, communicate through the show’s platform, rate one another, and may present either their real identity or a fictional one. That premise explains the format, but it does not disclose contestant pay.
