Taika Waititi has two daughters: Te Hinekāhu and Matewa Kiritapu. In a 2024 interview reported by the NZ Herald, Waititi said, “I’ve got two daughters, 10 and 7.” A 2025 report also refers to his two daughters.
Who are Taika Waititi’s children?
The two daughters named in the 2024 NZ Herald report are Te Hinekāhu and Matewa Kiritapu. The ages quoted in that report describe the girls at the time of publication, not their current ages.

Why do some reports mention a stepson?
A 2017 Guardian profile described Waititi’s family as including a stepson. That older reference is separate from the answer about his two daughters; it does not establish that the stepson is Waititi’s biological child. The Guardian’s description was specific to the family circumstances reported at that time.
How recent is the reported count?
The count is supported by Waititi’s 2024 first-person statement, the 2025 report’s reference to his two daughters, and older reporting. The latest corroboration cited here is from 2025, so this is the count reported by available coverage rather than a claim based on a live official family record.
