What did Jesse James do to Sandra Bullock?
In March 2010, news reports carried allegations of infidelity involving James. In a statement that CNN said had been provided to People, James accepted blame and apologized. “There is only one person to blame for this whole situation and that is me,” he said, adding, “This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension.” CNN’s March 18, 2010 transcript reported the statement; it was not an independent review of the original release.

In May, speaking to ABC News’ Nightline, James described the marriage as something he had ruined through his own actions: “I took a pretty amazing life and amazing success and marriage … and threw it away by my own hands.” ABC News’ May 20, 2010 report presented the remarks as James’s account.
Why did Sandra Bullock and Jesse James divorce?
The contemporary reporting tied the breakup to infidelity allegations, and James later stated plainly that he had cheated. In a May 2011 interview with Men’s Journal, as quoted by ABC News, he said: “I took full responsibility. I cheated on my wife. Guess what? So do millions of other men.” The final sentence was James’s rhetoric, not a documented statistic. ABC News’ account of the interview attributes the comments to him.

When did Sandra Bullock and Jesse James divorce?
On April 28, 2010, Bullock confirmed she had filed. “Yes, I have filed for divorce,” she said, adding, “I am sad and I am scared.” She also disclosed that she had adopted Louis and planned to raise him as a single mother. ABC News reported her statement and disclosure that day.
A June 29, 2010 report said the divorce was final, citing confirmation from Bullock’s representative. The Texas papers had been filed under seal, so the public report did not establish the private terms or a formal legal explanation for the divorce. ABC News’ June report describes the confirmation.

What did James later say about contact with Bullock and Louis?
In the May 2011 interview, James said he and Bullock had no contact and that he did not see Louis. Those details are James’s account as reported by ABC News, not an independently established account of their private arrangements. ABC News reported his remarks.
