She filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2010. Morgan later said she completed the reorganization and paid creditors in full, but the available reporting does not establish her current net worth.
How the failed film project led to a major judgment
CBS News reported that Morgan’s production company, Sonja Productions, was involved with Hannibal Pictures in a proposed film called Fast Flash to Bang Time, which was expected to star John Travolta. The project did not move forward because, according to CBS, Sonja Productions failed to meet conditions for Travolta’s participation. Hannibal Pictures sued and won a reported $7 million judgment. CBS News covered the bankruptcy and judgment; TheWrap reported that the judgment was upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals in 2011.
Morgan gave her own account in a 2011 post published by Bravo. She described the $7 million judgment as being over “a film that was never made,” and said her lawyers advised her to file for Chapter 11 to protect her assets. She also wrote: “I have a lot of outstanding business, my assets tied up in divorce, and needed some time to sort it out.” That is Morgan’s explanation of the pressures she faced; it does not independently establish every cause of her financial difficulties. Bravo published Morgan’s statement.
What her bankruptcy filing reported
Morgan filed for Chapter 11 in 2010. CBS News reported on November 18 that her petition listed $19.8 million in debt and $13.5 million in assets. Those are figures reported from the filing at that time—not a later, audited estimate of her net worth, and not the same thing as the $7 million judgment.

What happened to the French villa
TheWrap reported that the bankruptcy trustee sold Morgan’s French villa in 2014 for $5.7 million. The article described that sale as below the property’s reported listing range of $7 million to $8 million and said court documents indicated the trustee conducted it. The sale was part of the bankruptcy process, not evidence by itself of Morgan’s finances after the case.
How the bankruptcy case was resolved
E! News reported in 2015 that the case had ended and quoted Morgan saying the total came to more than $9 million: the $7 million judgment plus roughly $2 million in administration fees. That reported resolution figure should not be confused with the $19.8 million in debt listed in the 2010 petition; they refer to different amounts and stages of the case. E! News reported Morgan’s comments on the case’s end.

How Morgan said she bounced back
In 2019, Morgan said she was out of Chapter 11 reorganization and had paid “100 percent on the dollar.” Bravo reported her comments from a Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen after-show discussion. The same Bravo report described her pursuing stage performance, fashion and shoe lines, and renting out her Upper East Side townhouse. These activities show several avenues she pursued after the case, but the reporting does not quantify what they earned or establish her present financial position. Bravo covered Morgan’s account and post-case activities.

The reporting supports a clear account of the crisis and its reported resolution: a failed film venture led to litigation and a substantial judgment, Morgan filed for Chapter 11, a trustee sold the French villa, and Morgan later said she completed the reorganization by paying creditors in full. It does not verify her current net worth or financial condition. Online estimates should not be treated as established fact without reliable, current documentation.
