Yes—Scroll Staff’s 2021 review describes Home as a warm, gently comic Malayalam family drama, anchored by Indrans as a father trying to connect with his phone-focused family. Its leisurely pace and an often irritating older son keep that warmth from being an unqualified recommendation.
What is Home about?
Written and directed by Rojin Thomas, Home follows Oliver (Indrans), a father in Thiruvananthapuram who is unfamiliar with smartphones. His older son, Anthony (Sreenath Bhasi), is a filmmaker struggling to finish his second movie, preoccupied with his phone and anxious about his marriage. Oliver’s efforts to understand the technology lead to comic mishaps and gradually expose the distance between father and son.

The phone is more than a source of jokes: the story uses Oliver’s attempts to learn it to consider how family members give one another attention, preserve dignity, and stay connected.
What does the review praise?
Indrans’s performance
Scroll Staff singles out Indrans for a restrained but expressive performance. Oliver’s awkwardness around technology could easily become a one-note joke; the review instead finds warmth in the way the character’s efforts reveal his feelings and his wish to understand his son.

#1 Best Overall
The family ensemble and gentle humor
The review also praises the ensemble’s chemistry and the film’s gently comic tone. Its humor grows out of everyday family interactions and Oliver’s technological missteps rather than a sharper, more confrontational style.
What are the reservations?
Unhurried pacing
The film takes its time. Scroll Staff says the storytelling is unhurried and can feel like a limited series compressed into a feature, a quality that may appeal to viewers who enjoy a gradual family story but frustrate those looking for brisk momentum.
Anthony’s characterization
Anthony can come across as obnoxious, according to the review. That edge is part of the family tension, but it means the central relationship is not always as soothing as the film’s warm tone might suggest.
How long is Home, and where was it streaming?
Scroll Staff reported a runtime of two hours and 41 minutes in its review, published August 19, 2021. The review also said the film was then available on Amazon Prime Video. That is a historical availability note, not confirmation that Home is currently streaming there or available in any particular country.
Rank #3
Who is likely to enjoy it?
Home is a good fit for viewers drawn to character-led family dramas, gentle comedy, and an affectionate performance at the center of a story about technology and attention. Its slower pace is a consideration if you prefer tightly plotted films, while Anthony’s behavior may make the family dynamic more exasperating than comforting at times.
