Her comments about children’s mental health and fears of climate catastrophe were her assertions, not findings established by the reports covering the interview.
What Valance said about Australia
PerthNow reported that Valance, professionally known as Holly Valance and born Holly Candy, said she did not plan to return to Australia because of what she described as “problems” and “woke stuff.” The outlet quoted her saying: “The Australia I grew up in was unreal. It was so fun and we didn’t seem to have all these problems,” and, “The woke stuff’s really gone big in Australia.” These are Valance’s characterizations of the country, not an independently assessed account of social change.

Her comments about sexuality and children
Valance objected to sexuality being discussed in connection with children. As quoted by PerthNow, she said: “I don’t think sexuality and children should be in the same sentence. I don’t think anyone’s sexuality is anyone’s business. You don’t know about mine. I don’t know about yours. Why would we?” Her remarks were reported as part of the same podcast conversation.
What she said about Greta Thunberg and climate lessons
Valance criticized what she saw as the prominence of climate activism in classrooms. PerthNow quoted her referring to Thunberg as “this, like, demonic little gremlin high priestess of climatism as the goddess in classrooms.” GB News summarized the school-related criticism as an objection to schools “glorifying” Thunberg and climate change.

She also asserted that “all the kids are all coming home with depression and anxiety” and questioned why a child would do homework or attend a music lesson if they believed “we’re all going to be dead in five years anyway.” The reports do not establish that children broadly experience those effects, that climate lessons cause them, or that students generally hold the belief she described. No supporting study or statistic is provided in the coverage.
Which GB News appearance the remarks came from
The Australia, schools and Thunberg remarks belong to the 17 March 2024 discussion on Chopper’s Political Podcast. They should not be conflated with Valance’s other GB News appearances around that time:

- Single, Import
- 6 February 2024: GB News reported her view that the climate crisis was not a crisis and her criticism of restrictions on ordinary people.
- 15 March 2024: GB News covered her criticism of renewables and net-zero policy, and her stated preference to remain in England.
- 17 March 2024: PerthNow and GB News reported the podcast discussion involving Australia, schools and Greta Thunberg.
- 18 March 2024: Pedestrian.TV published another account of the appearance, identifying it as the first episode of the podcast with Chris Hope.
What the published accounts establish
PerthNow’s report supplies the detailed quotations; GB News’s article covers the school criticism, and Pedestrian.TV also describes the appearance and remarks. These are reports of what Valance said, rather than a full, independently verified transcript of the episode. The quotations should therefore be understood as attributed excerpts, not as a complete record of the conversation.
For the detailed account, see PerthNow’s 17 March report. GB News covered the school remarks in its 17 March article; its separate reports address Valance’s 6 February comments on the climate crisis and 15 March comments on renewables and net zero. Pedestrian.TV’s 18 March account also identifies the podcast appearance.
