Disney’s third film was reported to be in early development, but Jones’s casting was not confirmed.
What Doug Jones said about returning as Billy
In the Comic-Con interview, reported by Yahoo on July 24, 2026, Jones said he had seen the same reports about the third film as the interviewer and added, “But, I’ve not gotten that call yet.” That is a snapshot of his status at the time of the interview; it does not establish whether Disney has contacted him since.
Jones played Billy Butcherson in the 1993 Hocus Pocus and reprised the role in Hocus Pocus 2. Disney lists him in the original film’s cast and identified him as returning for the sequel in its original-film listing and 2021 sequel announcement.
What has been reported about Hocus Pocus 3

Why the Sanderson Sisters’ comments do not confirm a production schedule
In a July 15, 2026, interview with SYFY Wire, Najimy said she did not know the dates or logistical details. She said she thought the three leads would be willing to return if scheduling and other arrangements came together. Her comments express interest, not a confirmed filming plan. SYFY Wire’s interview
What remains unknown about Billy’s return
- Jones’s casting in the third film has not been confirmed in the cited reporting.
- Whether he has received a call since the July 24 interview is not established.
- The cited sources do not establish a filming start, release date, or whether the film will be theatrical or streaming.
Where to revisit Billy’s earlier appearances
Disney lists the original Hocus Pocus as available in 4K Ultra HD, making Disney’s official film page a reference for that format. This does not verify any retailer’s current price or stock. Disney says Hocus Pocus 2 debuted exclusively on Disney+ on September 30, 2022; its sequel announcement and 2022 retrospective document Jones’s return as Billy.
