After a House Oversight Committee deposition on February 26, 2026, Hillary Clinton said she had never met Jeffrey Epstein and had never visited his island, homes or offices. She also said lawmakers asked her about UFOs and Pizzagate. Separately, a fact-check found that a widely shared cropped photo said to show Clinton with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell actually shows Jane Slagsvol, Jimmy Buffett’s wife.
What Clinton said after the deposition
CNN reported that Clinton’s deposition lasted more than six hours. In remarks afterward, she described the questioning as repetitive and said she had repeatedly told the committee that she did not know Epstein and had never been to his island, homes or offices. She also said she was asked about UFOs and Pizzagate.

Her opening statement, reproduced by Lead Stories, used a careful formulation: “I had no idea about their criminal activities. I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island home or offices.” In later public remarks, as reported by The Guardian, Clinton said: “I never met Jeffrey Epstein, never had any connection or communication with him. I knew Ghislaine Maxwell casually, as an acquaintance.”
These are Clinton’s accounts of her knowledge and contacts. The available reporting does not include a complete transcript of the closed-door deposition, so it cannot independently establish every question asked or resolve the underlying claims.

Who is the woman in the viral Epstein photo?
The woman in the cropped image is not Hillary Clinton. Lead Stories’ February 27, 2026 fact-check identified her as Jane Slagsvol, Jimmy Buffett’s wife. The uncropped image shows Buffett standing beside Slagsvol.
According to Lead Stories, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released the image in December 2025. It was believed to have been taken at a 1995 Clinton fundraiser at Epstein’s home in Palm Beach, Florida. That reported setting does not change the identification of the woman in the photograph: she is Slagsvol, not Hillary Clinton.

What Clinton said about Pizzagate
Clinton said that questions about Pizzagate came up during her deposition. CNN’s transcript records her calling it “one of the most vile bogus conspiracy theories that was propagated on the internet.”
Pizzagate was a debunked 2016 conspiracy theory alleging that Clinton campaign staff used coded emails about child sex slaves supposedly held in the basement of Washington, D.C., restaurant Comet Ping Pong. The Guardian reports that the restaurant had no basement and no involvement in child sex trafficking. The allegation was false, not an unresolved account of a real trafficking operation.
