Amber Rose said she named her son after Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, and chose “Electric” because he plays electric guitar. The explanation was reported as a comment Rose left on The Shade Room’s post in November 2019.
Why did Amber Rose choose the name Slash Electric?
Rose’s reported explanation links both parts of her son’s name to the guitarist. Bossip reported on November 3, 2019, that Rose explained the choice in the comments on a post by The Shade Room: Slash was named after the Guns N’ Roses guitarist she called “the best guitarist,” while “Electric” refers to the electric guitar he plays. Bossip’s report reproduces and attributes her comment.
The report gives her wording as: “Slash is named after the best guitarist of all time from one of the best rock bands ever,” followed by, “Guitarist name is slash from guns and roses and he plays electric guitar hence why my sons middle name is electric.” The original comment was not independently verified in the reporting reviewed here, so this is best understood as Rose’s explanation as reported by Bossip.
What is Slash Electric’s full name?
Slash Electric Alexander Edwards is the name Alexander “AE” Edwards announced after Rose and Edwards welcomed their son in 2019, according to The Irish News on October 11, 2019. Rose’s reported comment explains the first and middle names; the announcement supplies the full name.

Was Amber Rose’s surname part of the inspiration?
The shared word “Rose” can make the name sound like a deliberate Guns N’ Roses reference, but that is not the explanation Rose gave for naming her son. Loudwire reported that Rose’s surname came from her mother’s maiden name; its article also connected the child’s name to the guitarist. That context does not establish that her surname influenced the naming choice. Loudwire’s report appeared on October 23, 2019.
