Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg first met in 2008, when he appeared on The Martha Stewart Show for a cooking segment. Their rapport started there, but the key moment Stewart later said cemented their relationship came seven years later, when they sat together at Comedy Central’s 2015 Roast of Justin Bieber. In 2016, they turned that chemistry into a joint television show.
They first met on Martha Stewart’s show in 2008
Stewart recalled that her show booked Snoop for a cooking segment. “We must have had a really good celebrity booker on Martha, because Snoop showed up one day and we did a cooking segment,” she told the Television Academy. She added, “He made brownies.” The Television Academy interview also captures Snoop’s recollection of their instant rapport: “It was chemistry. You could just feel it.”
Accounts of their early television appearances also mention mashed potatoes and conversation, including Snoop introducing Stewart to slang. Those details refer to their show appearances and need not be treated as one definitive recipe or a single exchange. Stewart later told the Los Angeles Times that Snoop’s giggle charmed her: “He giggles in a very, very nice way.”
Their friendship deepened at the 2015 Justin Bieber roast
The first meeting did not make them inseparable overnight. Stewart said in a 2014 recollection that she wished she were better friends with Snoop. The more important turning point came at Comedy Central’s 2015 Roast of Justin Bieber, where the two were seated beside each other. Snoop praised Stewart’s performance, and Stewart later described the experience as cementing their relationship.
