Yes. Helldivers 2’s August 12, 2025 Xbox launch trailer hinted at Halo 3: ODST with a rainy city resembling New Mombasa, a Helljumper-style drop pod and a few notes from the ODST soundtrack. That was a tease, not confirmation: Xbox Wire officially announced the collaboration a week later, and the ODST-themed Warbond launched on August 26 alongside the game’s Xbox Series X|S release.
What the trailer hinted at
GameSpot’s August 12, 2025 report noted a brief scene that evoked New Mombasa, the setting associated with Halo 3: ODST. The sequence also featured an orbital drop pod reminiscent of a Helljumper deployment and a few jazzy notes from the ODST soundtrack. Together, those details made a crossover look likely, but the trailer did not establish that its imagery was final in-game content or confirm a collaboration.
From tease to released Warbond
- August 12, 2025 — Tease: The Xbox launch trailer prompted speculation about an ODST connection, as GameSpot reported.
- August 19, 2025 — Confirmation: Xbox Wire announced the Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST Legendary Warbond and its contents.
- August 26, 2025 — Release: The Warbond arrived alongside Helldivers 2’s Xbox Series X|S launch. The Halo official site later confirmed that it was available to players on all platforms.
What the ODST Legendary Warbond included
Xbox Wire’s announcement listed four weapons, two armor sets, a passive ability, two capes and other themed content. The named items included:
- Weapons: MA5C Assault Rifle, M7S SMG, M90A Shotgun and M6C/SOCOM Pistol.
- Armor: A-9 Helljumper and A-35 Recon.
- Passive: Feet First, described as reducing movement noise, preventing leg injuries and increasing point-of-interest discovery range by 30%.
- Other themed items: Two capes and additional content. The Halo official site also described UNSC-themed capes and vehicle patterns.
The 30% figure is the effect Xbox Wire attributed to Feet First in its 2025 Warbond description; it is not a separate performance test.

Unlock price and announcement terms
At announcement, Xbox Wire said the Legendary Warbond cost 1,500 Super Credits to unlock. It said Super Credits could be found in-game or purchased separately, and that Warbonds do not expire. The same announcement said Legendary Warbonds could not be unlocked with the Premium Warbond Token launched at the time. These are the publisher’s 2025 launch-announcement terms, not a guarantee of current regional store requirements or pricing.
Arrowhead’s PlayStation Blog described unlocking the Warbond as requiring the base game, a paid purchase of Super Credits and game progression. That is the developer’s announcement wording; current availability and requirements may vary by region or change over time.

Why the studios chose ODST
In the Official Xbox Podcast, Arrowhead’s Mikael Eriksson called ODST “the perfect fit” for the collaboration. Halo Studios’ Corrinne Robinson said the items drew on Halo’s 2007–2009 era, including two armor sets, two capes, three primary weapons, a secondary weapon and a passive.
Robinson also clarified the distinction between crossover equipment and a story crossover: “Again, our characters are not in the Helldivers world, but it’s like they’re representations of their armor, which are popular with Halo fans.” The collaboration brought recognizable ODST-inspired gear into Helldivers 2, rather than placing Halo characters in its universe.
