Those are historical release details, not a guarantee of current availability in every region. Amazon’s season announcement described it as streaming exclusively on Prime Video.

The Gallagher family disappearance
Harry investigates the disappearance of the Gallagher family, a case that keeps the detective at the center of the season’s main investigation. The story also tests his own judgment and conduct rather than presenting him simply as an investigator outside the trouble.

Kurt Dockweiler’s death
Harry is investigated over the suspicious death of Kurt Dockweiler and is called to answer questions before a grand jury. That inquiry creates a second pressure point: it threatens to shape how others view him, including Chandler as she campaigns for office.
The season’s premise and official episode descriptions connect these threads, alongside the other two leads’ cases. Prime Video’s episode summaries also describe Chandler later prosecuting a cop killer after becoming DA, with Bosch brought in to help.
How do Honey Chandler and Maddie Bosch fit in?
Chandler’s campaign and new role
Chandler runs for Los Angeles district attorney, and her association with Bosch becomes an issue for the campaign as he faces scrutiny over Dockweiler. Her arc does not end with the election: the official episode descriptions place her in the DA’s office prosecuting a cop killer, with Harry assisting. The shift moves her from courtroom advocate to officeholder while keeping her relationship with Harry consequential.
Maddie and Reina Vasquez’s robbery case
Maddie and her partner, Reina Vasquez, investigate a crew responsible for follow-home robberies. Their storyline gives the season a police-work thread separate from Harry’s investigations, while continuing Maddie’s development as an officer and as Harry’s daughter.
What does the finale resolve, and who is Renée Ballard?
The finale brings in Renée Ballard, played by Maggie Q, and points toward the Ballard series. Amazon’s press center describes a bond between Ballard and Bosch; Titus Welliver said, “They form this bond working together and she recognizes aspects of herself in Harry,” and added, “Harry sees Renee as a younger version of himself.” Amazon’s press center lists Ballard as premiering July 9, 2025, on Prime Video.

The finale also resolves the long-running case involving three young women who were murdered, often called the Flower Girls case in franchise coverage. Season 3 draws on plot elements from two Michael Connelly novels: The Black Ice (1993) and Desert Star (2022). Amazon describes the season as based on the books, while Connelly’s official television page characterizes the relationship as the season using plot elements from them. Neither book should be treated as a novelization of the entire televised season, and viewers do not need to read either one to follow the story.
For readers interested in the source material, the two books are The Black Ice by Michael Connelly and Desert Star by Michael Connelly. Connelly’s official Bosch television page identifies both as informing the season.

Does the end of Bosch: Legacy end Harry Bosch’s story?
No: the final-season designation applies to Bosch: Legacy, not necessarily to the character. Connelly’s official series page says Bosch appears in Ballard, the series set up by the finale. Connelly wrote on September 6, 2024, that the season would be “the last season, bringing to a fitting close a 10 season run with this character, played so well by Titus Welliver.” That described the seven seasons of Bosch plus three of Bosch: Legacy at that point; the later Ballard announcement makes clear that the character continues beyond the end of this show.
