Pratt asked fans to stream her music; reports then documented a U.S. iTunes No. 1, a sharp Apple Music streaming increase and a rise in digital sales. Those are distinct measures—not one all-platform download total.
What happened after the Palisades fire?
After the couple’s home was lost in the fire, Pratt appealed to fans to support Montag by listening to her music. The Associated Press quoted his post: “Please stream any of @heidimontag music on any platforms it will make a huge difference.” ABC News quoted Montag thanking listeners: “Thank you to everyone streaming my music and supporting us!”

The appeal focused on streaming, but the ensuing coverage also tracked digital purchases and chart positions. The reported timing supports saying that listening and sales activity rose after Pratt’s request; it does not establish that the fire alone caused every change.
Did ‘Superficial’ really hit No. 1?
Yes. The AP and ABC News reported that Superficial and its title track reached No. 1 on U.S. iTunes charts in mid-January 2025. That is a dated U.S. iTunes result, not evidence of a continuing chart position or a No. 1 ranking across every music service.

How much did streaming increase?
An Apple Music representative told the AP that Saturday was Montag’s biggest streaming day on Apple Music to that point, with streams nearly 600% higher than on the previous Saturday. The comparison applies to Apple Music and that week-over-week pair of Saturdays; it is not an all-platform growth figure.
How many copies of ‘Superficial’ were sold?
Billboard, using Luminate data, estimated that 11,258 digital album copies were sold in the second week of January 2025. Billboard contrasted that with nine digital copies in the first week. These are estimates for digital album copies, not a complete count of downloads across every service or a count of streams.

The UK chart results were also distinct from the U.S. iTunes report. For the chart week dated Jan. 23, 2025, the Official Charts Company listed Superficial at No. 4 on the UK Official Album Downloads Chart and No. 74 on the UK Official Albums Sales Chart. The ranks refer to different UK charts and should not be read as U.S. positions.
What does the reported $147,011.61 represent?
Billboard estimated $147,011.61 in combined revenue for Jan. 3–23, 2025, based on Luminate data. Its estimate combined streaming, digital album and song sales, and publishing revenue. It is not a download-only total, and it is not a verified amount paid to Montag or her family.

A chart rank, stream increase, copy estimate and revenue estimate answer different questions and cannot be added together as though they were the same kind of measurement.

In Billboard’s Jan. 21 chart coverage, Montag said: “We really want to focus on getting a portion back to the community too, so we’re trying to figure out how to incorporate charities into everything we’re doing.” That statement expressed an intention to explore community support; it does not establish a specific donation amount or a completed charitable transfer.

What the figures establish—and what they do not
- Documented: a U.S. iTunes No. 1 report, an Apple Music representative’s near-600% comparison, Billboard’s estimated digital album-copy figures and mixed-revenue estimate, and the dated UK chart ranks.
- Not established: a complete all-platform download total, a verified personal payout, a lasting current chart position, or how much any one stream or purchase went to the family.
