Lovett was identified in the announcement as a “Pod Save America” co-host and former Obama speechwriter. The rest of the cast brought a range of occupations and backgrounds to the game.
What is the season’s format and what happens?
The setting is Fiji, where the castaways face physical and mental challenges alongside the social strategy at the heart of the competition. The official season announcement called it an “ever-evolving social game.” In the premiere, tribes had to earn a pot, machete and flint in their first challenge; two castaways also went on a journey to find the X that marks the spot.
