The track is new as a release, but it is built in part around an incomplete 1996 recording: Bradley Nowell’s archival vocals sit alongside vocals from his son, Jakob Nowell, and Scott Woodruff of Stick Figure.
Why “Feel Like That” was called Sublime’s first new song in nearly 28 years
The description refers to the song’s 2024 release, not to every performance being recorded that year. Sublime’s self-titled album sessions took place in 1996, and the track reportedly grew from an unfinished outtake from those sessions. The gap between that period and the single’s release is the basis for “nearly 28 years.”

MGM Resorts International’s May 21, 2025 band biography describes the May 2024 release as Sublime’s first new song in nearly 28 years. It also reports that the single peaked at No. 5 and became the group’s first top-10 hit on alternative radio since 1997. That is the peak position reported by the band biography; it should not be read as a ranking on every chart or in every territory.
How the archival recording became the released track
SPIN’s May 23, 2024 report says the song was assembled from an incomplete outtake recorded in 1996 during sessions for Sublime’s self-titled album at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio in Austin, Texas. The report describes Bradley Nowell’s freestyle as part of the recording, with additional vocals from Jakob Nowell and Scott Woodruff of Stick Figure.
#1 Best Overall
- Sublime is the eponymous third and final studio album by ska-punk band Sublime featuring numerous hit singles, including "What I Got," "Santeria," and "Wrong Way
SPIN credits production to Stick Figure, Johnny Cosmic, and longtime Sublime collaborator Michael “Miguel” Happoldt. Those recording-origin and production details are attributed to SPIN’s reporting; the release is not simply a claim that the entire song was newly performed in 2024.
Who appears on “Feel Like That”
- Bradley Nowell: archival vocals from the incomplete 1996 outtake.
- Jakob Nowell: vocals from Bradley’s son, who joined the band’s live lineup decades later.
- Scott Woodruff: vocals from the frontman of Stick Figure, also credited among the producers.
What the song signaled about Sublime’s lineup in 2024
Sublime was founded in 1988 in Long Beach by Bradley Nowell, Bud Gaugh, and Eric Wilson. Bradley died on May 25, 1996. In late December 2023, Jakob joined Gaugh and Wilson onstage; the lineup made its debut at Coachella in 2024, according to MGM Resorts International’s band biography.
Rank #2
That context gives “Feel Like That” a particular place in the band’s transition: an archival performance by Bradley appears alongside vocals by Jakob as the band returned to the stage with its founding members. The track connects the original group’s recordings with the lineup that emerged in 2024, without making the archival vocal a newly recorded performance.

Target listed a Sublime 7-inch vinyl single pairing “Feel Like That (Feat. Bradley Nowell)” with “Garden Grove.” The listing gave a July 11, 2025 street date and showed a price of $14.98 with the item marked “Out of Stock” when accessed on October 8, 2026. That is a snapshot of one retailer’s listing, not a guarantee of current availability elsewhere.
