Heidi Klum’s striking 2026 Grammys look was a custom, skin-toned leather gown molded to her body by Berlin-based designer Marina Hoermanseder. Although some coverage called it latex, the Recording Academy and Klum described the material as leather. The rigid design made walking difficult, and Klum later changed into a black dress.
What did Heidi Klum wear to the 2026 Grammys?
At the 68th Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026, Klum arrived in a nude-illusion gown with a close-fitting, body-molded silhouette. Its skin-like color and sculpted shape created the visual effect of a daring, almost bare look; the garment itself was a constructed leather design, not simply a conventional fabric dress. The Recording Academy’s fashion feature describes it as skin-toned leather shaped to a mold of Klum’s body.
Who designed the gown, and how was it made?
The gown was designed by Berlin-based Marina Hoermanseder. In the Recording Academy’s red-carpet interview, Klum explained the process: “She did a little mold, and then everything is done by leather. She makes it wet, it gets molded, then she dries it. Then it gets lacquered, sprayed and voila!” The Academy’s feature follows the design from sketches and computer models through shaping and hand-finishing the leather.
Was it leather or latex?
Coverage used different material labels. The Recording Academy identifies the garment as leather, consistent with Klum’s own description in its interview. The Los Angeles Times’ Grammys coverage and E! News used latex wording. The most precise description, based on Klum’s account and the Academy’s feature, is a sculpted leather gown; “latex” should be understood as a label used by some outlets, not an undisputed construction detail.

Could Klum move comfortably in it?
Not easily. The Los Angeles Times reported that the rigid gown sharply limited Klum’s steps. She later reappeared in a black, strapless, knee-length dress, so the nude-illusion look was not her outfit for the entire ceremony.
Why did Klum choose such a dramatic look?
The look fits Klum’s stated preference for standout fashion. In the Recording Academy’s red-carpet interview, she said, “I always go for, like, a showstopper kind of an outfit, you know? I’m never someone who’s like, ‘This looks nice,’” and added, “I always like something special.”
