Video-game composer Marty O’Donnell is the Republican nominee for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, where he is set to challenge Democratic incumbent Susie Lee in the 2026 general election, according to the Associated Press. O’Donnell is best known for composing music and designing audio for the Halo and Destiny games, but his campaign is focused on affordability, border security, artificial intelligence and automation, and federal spending.
Who is Marty O’Donnell, and what seat is he seeking?
O’Donnell is a composer and audio designer whose best-known video-game work includes Halo and Destiny. The National Republican Congressional Committee describes him in those terms, and his campaign has promoted an Old School Halo Tournament. His entertainment career is distinct from the evidence of his political views and qualifications, which voters can assess through his campaign statements and public record.
The Federal Election Commission lists O’Donnell as a challenger in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District and identifies Marty for Congress as his principal campaign committee. The district is in the Las Vegas area. The Associated Press reported that O’Donnell won the 2026 Republican primary and would face incumbent Democrat Susie Lee in the general election. Ballot status and election details can change, so consult official records as the election approaches.
What does O’Donnell say he would prioritize?
O’Donnell’s campaign materials emphasize affordability, support for families and small businesses, community and border security, protections for workers affected by AI and automation, and confronting federal spending and debt. The campaign says it wants an economy that puts American workers first and protects their ability to earn a livelihood. These are campaign-stated priorities, not independently established outcomes or enacted policies.

Artificial intelligence and jobs
The Associated Press summarized O’Donnell’s primary campaign themes as regulating and investing in AI. His campaign also speaks broadly about protecting workers as AI and automation change work. The available descriptions do not specify a detailed regulatory plan, so claims about particular rules or programs should not be inferred from those themes alone.
Border security and debt
AP reported that O’Donnell advocated building on President Donald Trump’s border-security policies and reducing the national debt. His campaign’s own priorities likewise highlight border security and spending. These descriptions capture the positions reported during the primary campaign; they do not establish the details of proposed legislation.

Corporate PAC contributions
O’Donnell’s campaign website states: “I’m not accepting Corporate PAC dollars. My campaign is powered by patriots.” That is the campaign’s description of its fundraising approach, not a complete account of receipts. FEC filings provide the formal record of campaign finance activity.
What issues are shaping Nevada’s 3rd District race?
AP has described the district as one of Nevada’s most competitive House seats. Its June primary-night coverage noted a narrow Democratic registration advantage and a substantial number of nonpartisan voters; that was a dated account of the electorate, not a forecast of the result. AP’s 2026 coverage identified the “no tax on tips” policy, energy costs and declining tourism among the issues in the race.

In September 2026 reporting, AP said O’Donnell’s campaign had made a $3 million personal loan and discussed campaign ad reservations and outside-group spending. The personal loan is a figure reported at that time, not a statement of current campaign cash or total receipts. Candidate spending and outside-group spending are separate categories; neither should be treated as a current audited total on the basis of that report.

Nevada Current reported that O’Donnell ran for the same seat in 2024 and lost the Republican primary. The outlet also recounted remarks he made about authorizing military action in Iran and his views on the Trump administration, attributing them to the podcast or event it covered. Those reported comments should be understood in that context, rather than treated as an official written campaign platform unless his campaign publishes them as such.
