How did the rugby sevens tournament work?
The Government of Western Australia described the 2024 competition as 12 men’s and 12 women’s national teams. Matches featured seven players per side and seven-minute halves, with round-robin play followed by knockout matches across the three days. The government identified HSBC SVNS as the renamed successor to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. Its event-week announcement also named Peking Duk, Hot Dub Time Machine, Discovery, Flewnt & Inkabee and Coterie, and mentioned a premium food market and beach club.
How many people attended?
HBF Park’s retrospective reports 44,000 attendees across the long weekend and says Sunday’s session sold out. It also notes that Peking Duk and Hot Dub Time Machine performed at that Sunday session. This is the venue’s reported figure; the retrospective does not present it as an independently audited attendance count. HBF Park’s event wrap-up.
