Was the sale caused by the fires?
Reports say the home was already under contract before the fires began, so the timing does not support saying the fires caused the sale. The reported closing date was January 27, 2025; that is distinct from when the parties reached contract.
What was the home like?
The property was described as a 1950s home with a range of additional spaces and amenities, including a guesthouse, an apartment above the garage, a stable, gym, wine cellar, office, game room and home theater. Kitchen details reported included double cooktops or ranges and a wood-burning oven. Coverage differs on the home’s room counts and dimensions: Architectural Digest described about 8,000 square feet, six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, while Realtor.com reported eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Those figures should not be treated as a settled count.
Why did Paltrow sell the property?
Reporting attributed the move in part to her children moving out and her plans to divide time among Los Angeles, the Hamptons and Montecito. That is reported context, not a confirmed statement of the transaction’s formal motive.
