A long career across television, film and theater
Van Dam worked in entertainment for roughly seven decades. The Hollywood Reporter’s obituary coverage described her career as amounting to approximately 140 acting credits; that is an attributed estimate, not a verified complete count. Her representatives, in a statement reproduced by Yahoo Entertainment, also referred to her 70 years in show business.
Television
Her television work ranged from early series such as Dark Shadows, The Brady Bunch and Mannix to later appearances in Where the Bears Are, Days of Our Lives, The French Atlantic Affair, Moonlighting, Pushing Twilight and One Mississippi. In the later part of her career, she played Mrs. Trotter in four episodes of Homecoming and appeared in As We See It and Interior Chinatown.

Beyond Halloween, named film credits include Stand by Your Man, Stir Crazy and Star Trek: Generations. These roles reflect the breadth of a career built largely through supporting parts rather than a single starring vehicle.

Van Dam’s representatives at Roth & Associates West said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, reproduced by Yahoo Entertainment: “She was a talented actress, a loving mother and grandmother, and a joy to the many friends she collected over her long career. We will miss her bright smile, her positive attitude, and the grace with which she approached her life, both personally and professionally. Her legacy will live on in the many wonderful performances she gave over her 70 years in show business.”
