The Reeperbahn is the main spine of St. Pauli’s nightlife, not a single street of interchangeable clubs. Nearby Große Freiheit, Hamburger Berg, Talstraße and Hans-Albers-Platz each add different options, from live music and dancing to smaller bars. Choose a night by the kind of event you want, then check the venue’s own listing for current hours, tickets and entry rules.
What counts as Reeperbahn nightlife?
Hamburg’s evening Kiez covers a cluster of streets and squares around the Reeperbahn, including Große Freiheit, Hamburger Berg and Hans-Albers-Platz. The area brings together bars, pubs, nightclubs, live-music venues, theaters, cabaret, galleries and restaurants—not just one type of night out. Hamburg’s visitor guide describes the district and its range of attractions.
Use the Reeperbahn as your main point of orientation, then branch into nearby pockets. Große Freiheit is a key street for clubs and live music. Hamburger Berg and Talstraße are known in Hamburg’s English guide for smaller bars. Spielbudenplatz is a central square used for markets, fairs and outdoor concerts. Beatles-Platz and the Beatles monument are recognizable landmarks, while the Panoptikum wax museum is another nearby attraction. These are useful ways to navigate the area, not assurances that any particular business or event is open on your chosen night. Hamburg’s visitor guide
How to choose a bar, club or live show
Start with the format you want rather than a generic “best club” list. Hamburg’s official listings give visitors a useful set of starting points, but they do not establish a dependable venue-by-venue comparison of current prices, queues, dress codes, reservations, age policies or opening hours. Venue schedules and locations can change; confirm details with the venue directly before setting out.

| Venue or area | What official Hamburg listings establish | Useful next check |
|---|---|---|
| Docks | Hamburg describes it as both a nightclub and concert venue, with electronic dance styles on weekend nights. Source: Hamburg visitor guide | Check whether the date features a concert, DJ event or another format, and confirm tickets and entry details. |
| Große Freiheit 36 | Hamburg identifies it as a live club. Source: Hamburg visitor guide | Check the event listing to see whether the night suits your preferred music and performance style. |
| Molotow | Hamburg lists the venue in its nightlife material and reports that it moved to Reeperbahn 136 in 2025. Source: Hamburg nightlife guide | Verify the current address, calendar and directions with Molotow before traveling. |
| Mojo Club, Gun Club, Komet, Prinzenbar and Noho | Hamburg’s nightlife material includes these as venue examples. Source: Hamburg nightlife guide | Use each venue’s current listing to establish its program and practical entry information. |
| Hamburger Berg and Talstraße | Hamburg’s English visitor guide points to these side streets for smaller bars. Source: Hamburg visitor guide | Check individual bar listings for opening times and what is happening on the date of your visit. |
For a simple plan, pick a live performance, a DJ or dance night, or a quieter bar first. Match that choice to a street or venue, check the event listing for that specific date, and use a nearby landmark such as Spielbudenplatz or Beatles-Platz to orient yourself. If an event is part of the Reeperbahn Festival, check whether the ticket or pass you need covers it.
Hamburg’s visitor page notes that Herbertstraße restricts access for women and minors. This is a specific access condition for that street; it should not be generalized to the whole district. Hamburg’s visitor guide

How the Reeperbahn Festival differs from a regular club night
The Reeperbahn Festival is an annual, multi-venue music event, not simply a club night at one address. Hamburg’s tourism and travel-trade information describes a program spread across around 70 venues, with music ranging from indie, pop, rock, folk and singer-songwriter to electronic, hip-hop, soul, jazz and classical. The Festival Village on Heiligengeistfeld has included free-access stages; consult the official festival program for details about specific artists, events and access. Hamburg festival information
2026 dates and attendance figures
The 2026 Reeperbahn Festival ran from 16 to 19 September 2026, so those dates have passed. Hamburg’s Ministry of Culture and Media reported on 14 September 2026 that the festival’s music program used around 70 venues and an open-air Festival Village on Heiligengeistfeld. The ministry expected around 45,000 public visitors and around 6,000 trade visitors. Those visitor counts were forecasts issued before the event, not final audited attendance. 2026 tickets and access
For that edition, Hamburg.de described one-, two-, three- and four-day passes. Its 2026 information also said visitors under 30 could save up to 30 percent, and described “Spotlight On” tickets focused on Heavy Music, Hip-Hop or electronic events. Those themed tickets did not provide general access. Individual tickets were also mentioned for Elbphilharmonie concerts. These details apply to the 2026 edition only; check the next edition’s official ticket descriptions for current dates, availability, prices and access conditions. Hamburg festival information

- For a regular night: Check the venue’s own calendar, address, opening times, ticketing and entry rules for your date. The city’s listings are orientation, not real-time confirmation.
- For a festival night: Check the current edition’s dates, program, participating venues and ticket access rules. A festival listing does not by itself establish that one pass covers every event.
- For planning your route: Choose the relevant street or square and confirm the venue location directly, especially when visiting a place whose address has changed.
Hamburg also points visitors toward local tours of the Reeperbahn and St. Pauli. A guided walk may help with neighborhood orientation, but check the tour operator’s current route, schedule and terms. Hamburg’s visitor guide
