Good Boy is a compact supernatural horror film that makes a dog—not his owner—the audience’s guide to a haunted house. Directed by Ben Leonberg, it follows Indy as he moves with Todd to a rural family home and senses forces the people around him do not seem to notice. That restricted viewpoint turns ordinary rooms, corners and sounds into sources of suspense.
What is Good Boy about?
Indy relocates with his owner Todd to a rural family home, where he encounters supernatural forces. The film’s premise is simple, but its point of view changes the usual haunted-house dynamic: the viewer is aligned with a dog who can perceive danger without being able to explain it to the humans around him. The official synopsis describes supernatural forces lurking in the shadows; the story’s tension grows from watching Indy react to what others appear to miss. (Official film synopsis)

How does the dog’s point of view shape the horror?
Rather than treating Indy as a mascot on the edge of a human story, the film makes his attention the frame through which the house is experienced. A space that seems unremarkable to Todd can feel charged when Indy watches it, pauses, or responds to something outside the humans’ awareness. The low, dog-centered perspective also makes the physical details of a room—its thresholds, shadows and floor-level spaces—part of the suspense.
BFI Sight and Sound characterizes the film as a haunted-house story using dog-vision techniques, with visual attention drawn to spaces and details near the floor. Its review reads that formal choice as a source of creeping dread. That is a critical interpretation rather than a guarantee that every viewer will respond the same way, but it helps explain the film’s distinctive approach. (BFI Sight and Sound review)

What kind of horror is it?
Good Boy is best approached as a story of sustained unease and unseen presence rather than as a conventional human-led haunted-house film. Its central suspense comes from the mismatch between what Indy senses and what the people in the house appear to register. If you want horror built around a dog’s restricted ability to communicate, that mismatch is the film’s central device; if you prefer a story explained through human investigation, this perspective may feel deliberately narrow.
