KOMP 92.3 later played Green Day again: its track history listed “Longview” in October 2026. X 107.5’s current playlist status is unconfirmed.
What happened at Green Day’s San Francisco concert?
On September 20, 2024, Green Day played Oracle Park in San Francisco. Armstrong, an Oakland native and longtime A’s supporter, criticized John Fisher for selling the Oakland Athletics and moving the team to Las Vegas. He also directed an insult at Las Vegas, saying, “I hate Las Vegas. It’s the worst shithole in America.” The Guardian reported the remarks.

The context was the A’s departure from Oakland, which had drawn opposition from fans. Armstrong’s comments targeted Fisher and the relocation, but his wording also disparaged the city that was to become the team’s home.
Which stations stopped playing Green Day?
On September 25, 2024, two Las Vegas-area stations announced playlist removals. KOMP 92.3 posted, “KOMP 92.3 has pulled any and all Green Day from our playlist,” adding, “It’s not us, Billie … it’s you.” X 107.5 said its ban was effective immediately. FOX5 Las Vegas reported the announcements.

| Station | What it announced in September 2024 | What is established now |
|---|---|---|
| KOMP 92.3 | It said it had pulled Green Day from its playlist. | Online Radio Box’s track history listed “Longview” in October 2026, indicating the 2024 removal was no longer in effect by then. This is third-party playlist evidence, not an official station statement. View KOMP’s track history. |
| X 107.5 | It announced that it was banning Green Day music effective immediately. | Current playlist status is unconfirmed; the 2024 announcement alone does not establish whether the station still excludes the band. |
Here, “ban” describes the stations’ voluntary programming decisions—not a legal restriction or a citywide broadcast ban.
Why did X 107.5 object to Armstrong’s remarks?
X 107.5 framed its decision as a response to Armstrong’s comments about Las Vegas. The station said, “In response to Armstrong’s inflammatory comments, the station is banning all Green Day music, effective immediately,” and concluded, “We’re breaking up with Green Day completely. Bye Bye, Billie!”

Midday host Carlota Gonzalez defended the relocation and criticized Armstrong’s attack on the city. She said on air, “Maybe he should take a look at the city and the people involved in that transaction (rather) than talking smack about the city of Las Vegas.” The San Francisco Chronicle reported Gonzalez’s reaction.
What was the Oakland A’s connection?
Armstrong’s objection was tied to the A’s leaving Oakland for Las Vegas. Fisher, then the team’s owner, apologized to Oakland fans and said the organization had tried but failed to stay in the Bay Area. The Guardian quoted him: “Staying in Oakland was our goal, it was our mission, and we failed to achieve it.”

Armstrong later described the team’s departure as devastating and expressed sympathy for fans and people who would lose jobs, according to The Independent. That post did not directly address the radio stations’ playlist decisions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are Green Day songs still banned in Las Vegas?
There is no single current answer for both stations. KOMP’s October 2026 track history showed Green Day airplay, so its September 2024 removal should be treated as historical rather than ongoing. For X 107.5, the available evidence confirms the station’s announcement in 2024 but does not establish its playlist today. Neither station’s original decision should be presented as a current, region-wide ban.
