Grotesquerie is a 10-episode FX drama about Detective Lois Tryon and Sister Megan, a nun and journalist, investigating a series of heinous crimes that unsettle a small community. Lois suspects the crimes are eerily personal; Megan’s faith in human goodness stands in contrast to Lois’s fear that the world is giving way to evil.
What is Grotesquerie about?
The series follows Detective Lois Tryon as she searches for answers to disturbing crimes in a small community. With few leads, she accepts help from Sister Megan, who is both a nun and a journalist for the Catholic Guardian. Their investigation draws them into a sinister web.
The case unfolds alongside Lois’s difficult home life: she has a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband receiving long-term hospital care, and personal struggles of her own. The official descriptions frame the story around the contrast between Megan’s continued belief in human goodness and Lois’s growing fear of evil. The setup is best approached spoiler-free.

Where can you watch Grotesquerie?
Viewing availability depends on country and date. Disney+ UK Press announced on September 6, 2024, that the first two episodes would premiere on Disney+ in the U.K. on September 26, 2024. That announcement documents the original U.K. launch, not the show’s current catalog status. FX’s series page presents Hulu viewing context, but it does not establish availability in every territory today.
