Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson returned as Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes in a Walmart holiday commercial released in December 2024. The 30-second spot revisits Stars Hollow for a brief coffee-and-gift scene; it is an advertisement, not a new Gilmore Girls episode or a confirmed revival.
What happens in the Walmart ad?
The spot opens on a snowy Stars Hollow, where Kirk, played by Sean Gunn, delivers a package to Luke’s diner. Lorelai arrives and asks for “coffee, coffee, coffee, please.” Luke gives her a Keurig machine. When she says he “shouldn’t have,” he replies, “I had to. You’re drinking me out of business.” TV Insider reported the scene and dialogue.

The featured gift is identified in coverage only as a Keurig machine; no exact model is named. The commercial’s joke and its reunion moment both turn on the familiar Lorelai-and-Luke coffee dynamic.
Who appears, and what does the reunion mean?
Graham reprises Lorelai, Patterson returns as Luke, and Gunn appears as Kirk. The appearance follows the 2016 four-episode scripted continuation, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but the Walmart spot does not announce another installment. It is a short branded scene rather than a new chapter in the series.

Graham described returning to the setting as unusual because of the character’s familiarity and seeing Patterson again: “It was a particularly odd day for me because there’s just so much familiarity with that character and seeing Scott and being in that place.” TV Insider attributed the comment to Graham.
How the commercial fits Walmart’s holiday campaign
The Drum placed the spot within Walmart’s “Give the Gifts that Show You Get Them” campaign, which paired familiar characters from entertainment properties. Other commercials featured pairings from Love Jones, Crazy Rich Asians, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Its campaign report credits a joint effort by Publicis Groupe agencies including Fallon, Publicis New York, The Community, Contender, and Digitas.
