G20 is a fictional action thriller built around a simple appeal: Viola Davis as a president who can fight back. Davis gives the high-concept premise a commanding center, while the siege-and-escape story leans on familiar action-movie beats. Whether that balance works for you depends on how much you value a forceful lead over surprises in the plot.
What is G20 about?
Directed by Patricia Riggen, the 2025 film stars Davis as Danielle Sutton, a fictional U.S. president attending a G20 summit when attackers seize control. Sutton becomes a target and must evade capture while protecting her family, her country and the other world leaders. The Associated Press describes Sutton as a president whose military background proves useful during the attack.
The setup makes no secret of its action-thriller priorities. This is a story about a leader navigating danger under pressure, not a documentary account of summit diplomacy. Its central question is whether the movie can make the escape and protection stakes engaging once the attack begins.
Does Viola Davis make a convincing action hero?
Davis is the film’s strongest point of interest. Her authority as Sutton helps sell the heightened premise: the character has the stature of a head of state and the resolve of someone prepared to meet a physical threat. That combination gives the action a clear focal point and makes the president more than a figure waiting for others to rescue her.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The role’s appeal is less about whether every situation feels plausible than about watching Davis command the screen as a leader forced into direct action. Viewers looking for a grounded political procedural may find the premise too fanciful; viewers open to a wish-fulfillment action fantasy may find the performance a persuasive reason to stay with it.
How well do the action and story work?
The plot moves through a summit attack, evasion and efforts to protect people caught in the crisis. Those familiar ingredients give the film a straightforward thriller engine, but they also make its broad turns easier to anticipate. The family and world-leader stakes clarify what Sutton is fighting for, though the larger cast and multiple responsibilities can compete with the simplest pleasure of the setup: following Davis through the danger.

TIME’s April 11, 2025 review characterizes G20 as a wish-fulfillment action fantasy with recognizable genre beats, some of which land satisfyingly. That is a useful way to set expectations, rather than a claim that every viewer or critic shares the same verdict. The film’s appeal rests on the momentum and spectacle of its action formula more than on narrative novelty.
