Organizers postponed it in April, ticket holders received refund messages, and no replacement date or location was provided in that update. The official Fyre Festival website now promotes a separate event for November 2027, but the venue, lineup, and ticket details are not established by the materials available here. The official site is making a claim, not proof that a festival is fully arranged.
What happened to Fyre Festival 2 in Mexico?
In February 2025, Billy McFarland announced a festival planned for May 30 to June 2 in Mexico. ABC News reported advertised packages ranging from $1,400 to $1.1 million, with no musical acts announced at the time. Those prices describe the historical 2025 offer; they are not a current ticket list. ABC News reported the announcement and package range.
The proposed destination shifted from Isla Mujeres to Playa del Carmen, amid conflicting accounts from organizers and local authorities. In April, organizers said the event would not proceed as planned, citing a dispute with local authorities and saying they would vet another destination. Municipal and tourism officials publicly denied knowledge of or authorization for the event. ABC News quoted Playa del Carmen’s municipal government: “The municipal government of Playa del Carmen, informs that no event with that name will be held in our city.” ABC News covered the postponement and competing accounts; The Washington Post also reported on the postponement and refunds.
Ticket holders received postponement and refund messages. The Washington Post reported that its own reporter received a refund receipt. The organizer’s spokesperson, Nick Lawson, said, “FYRE Festival 2 is still on,” but that statement supplied no new date or location. The contemporaneous reporting established a postponed Mexico plan, not a rescheduled event.

Is Fyre Festival 2 real?
There are two different things being called Fyre Festival 2. The 2025 Mexico event was announced, marketed, and then postponed before its scheduled dates. The current official Fyre site promotes a new event for November 2027. That makes the 2027 event an official organizer claim; it does not establish that a venue, permits, performers, or ticket sale are in place.
| What to check | 2025 Mexico plan | Official site’s 2027 promotion |
|---|---|---|
| Date and place | Announced for May 30 to June 2, 2025, in Mexico; proposed location shifted from Isla Mujeres to Playa del Carmen. Organizers postponed it in April, and no replacement date or destination was stated in that update. | The official site names November 2027, but the venue is not established on the inspected page. Official Fyre Festival site. |
| Publicly announced lineup | No acts had been announced when ABC News reported the ticket packages. | Not stated on the inspected official page. Official Fyre Festival site. |
| Local authorization and arrangements | Local officials publicly disputed knowledge of or authorization for the event; organizers gave a different account. The reporting cited here does not resolve that disagreement. | Not established by the official site. It identifies LimeWire as the backing company and says the event is in production, but those statements are not independently corroborated in the sources cited here. Official Fyre Festival site. |
| Tickets | Ticket holders received postponement and refund messages after the plan changed. | Ticket details are not established on the inspected official page. Official Fyre Festival site. |
The site said venue, lineup, and ticket details would be fully revealed in September 2026, yet the page inspected still described the reveal as forthcoming. That page alone does not establish whether a fuller announcement appeared elsewhere. Until specific arrangements can be checked, treat the November 2027 date as the organizer’s stated plan rather than a confirmed festival.

Where is Fyre Festival 2 happening, and are tickets available?
No destination for the promoted November 2027 event is established on the official page inspected, and its ticket details are likewise not established. The 2025 Mexico destination is not a reliable guide to the location of the separate 2027 promotion. There is no confirmed destination or ticket release here to use for travel planning; avoid treating old prices or third-party listings as current official offers.
What does the Fyre brand’s history add to the story?
The original Fyre Festival’s history is relevant to evaluating new claims, but it should not be confused with proof about the arrangements for a future event. ABC News reported that McFarland pleaded guilty to wire-fraud charges connected to the original festival. For the legal record, consult the Department of Justice’s case materials rather than relying on a shorthand summary: U.S. Department of Justice case announcement.

In April 2025, McFarland said he intended to step back and sell the Fyre brand. Pollstar reported that his statement described licensing development in theater, music streaming, and free ad-supported television (FAST). Those were announced plans, not evidence that a particular program or service is now available. Pollstar reported the brand-sale statement and claimed licensing plans.

MusicRadar reported in September 2025 that Fyre Festival: The Musical was an early-stage project involving Rita Ora and Taika Waititi, with Bryan Buckley writing and directing and Paul Epworth composing. That report does not establish a current production schedule or release date. Buckley joked, “And yeah, man, this time there will actually be music or your money back.” The line was about the reported musical project, not a guarantee about a festival. MusicRadar reported on the project’s development.
