Vanessa Stanat was announced as a finalist on Germany’s Next Topmodel 2019, then said she would not appear in the finale. The public disagreement that followed concerned access to the official GNTM Instagram account she had used during the season—not a documented financial settlement.
Why did Vanessa leave GNTM before the 2019 finale?
On May 16, 2019, the semifinal named Vanessa a finalist. She then announced that she would not take part in the finale. In her initial statement, quoted by Tagesspiegel on May 17, she said: “Ich muss leider mitteilen, dass ich aus persönlichen Gründen nicht bei der Finalshow antreten werde.” She said she would explain more later.

Her decision prompted questions because she had made it to the final, but the contemporaneous reports cited here do not establish further details about her personal reasons.
What was the dispute with ProSieben about?
In Instagram stories after her departure, Vanessa said she had lost access to the official GNTM account she had used during the season. She said she had wanted to keep sharing with its followers after the show, and raised concern about private information associated with the account. What did ProSieben say about the Instagram account?
ProSieben spokesperson Christoph Körfer told Watson that the broadcaster considered the official account part of participation in GNTM and decided to end it after Vanessa left the competition. He said: “Vanessa ist bei #GNTM ausgestiegen. Sie hat sich entschieden, ihre #GNTM-Reise kurz vor dem Finale zu beenden. ProSieben hat sich deshalb entschieden, Ihren offiziellen #GNTM-Instagram-Account, der Teil der Teilnahme an #GNTM ist, zu beenden. Wenn man ein Kapitel schließt, dann ganz.”
Körfer also said: “Es stimmt, ProSieben hat in diesem Kontext nicht mit Vanessa gesprochen, sondern ihr eine freundliche Mail geschickt.” The broadcaster’s explanation was its stated position; it does not independently establish what happened to the account or any associated private information.
DWDL’s coverage adds that candidates received show-related Instagram accounts marketed by ProSieben. RND reported on May 20 that Vanessa alleged the broadcaster changed the password without speaking to her personally. That report records her claim; it is not an independent account-security finding.
