Yes. Horror, Inc. vice president Robbie Barsamian has said a new Friday the 13th sequel is in development. But no release date, title, director, cast or production start has been announced in the sources reviewed, so “finally” does not mean the film is close to release.
What has been confirmed about the new movie?
At San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, 2025, Barsamian said a sequel movie and a new video game were in the works. “While we’re not officially announcing with our partners today, both are coming. They’re both in the works and they’re both coming,” he said, referring to those two projects.

No. Crystal Lake is a separate prequel series from A24 and Peacock, not the feature sequel Barsamian discussed. NBCUniversal announced that its eight episodes will premiere in the U.S. on Peacock on October 15, 2026. The series follows Pam Voorhees and expands the franchise’s backstory.

|---|---|---|
| Planned Friday the 13th sequel | Feature film described as in development; Barsamian called it the franchise’s thirteenth movie. | No release date announced in the sources reviewed. |

What to watch for next
A meaningful change in the film’s status would be an official announcement with concrete production details, such as a title, creative team, start of filming or release date. Until then, claims that the sequel is arriving on a particular date—or that a named actor or director is attached—go beyond what the sources reviewed confirm.
