The Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration launched on May 3, 2024, with update v29.40—one day before Star Wars Day. Announced on April 15, the multi-mode event brought themed content to LEGO Fortnite, Battle Royale, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival. Here is what each mode offered at launch, and what the dated announcement does—and does not—tell players about availability today.
When did Star Wars come to Fortnite?
The collaboration was announced April 15, 2024, previewed for LEGO Fortnite on May 1, and released May 3 with Fortnite v29.40. The timing placed the launch just ahead of Star Wars Day on May 4. StarWars.com described it at the time as the biggest Fortnite | Star Wars collaboration up to that point; that was a contemporary description, not a claim about the largest collaboration today. StarWars.com’s launch report covers the release and participating modes.
What was in the collaboration?
The update was not a single game mode or a physical LEGO set promotion. It spread different Star Wars activities and items across four Fortnite experiences:
| Fortnite experience | What the 2024 launch included |
|---|---|
| LEGO Fortnite | Rebel survival and village-building, combat and Star Wars weapons, plus the Rebel Adventure LEGO Pass. |
| Battle Royale | Star Wars outfits and themed quests. |
| Fortnite Festival | A Jam Stage inspired by the Mos Eisley Cantina. |
| Rocket Racing | Quests that could unlock Anakin’s Podracer and Darth Maul decals. |
What did LEGO Fortnite add?
The LEGO Fortnite portion focused on a Rebel outpost and survival. Players could help Rebel allies survive by building a village, confront Imperial forces and Stormtroopers, and use Star Wars weapons. The announced arsenal included a lightsaber, Thermal Detonators, E-11 Blasters and Bowcasters. StarWars.com’s May 1 preview described the update and its pass.

Rebel Adventure LEGO Pass
The LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure offered quests that awarded builds and décor based on the Mos Eisley Set, including the Cantina. The preview said players who upgraded the pass could instantly claim Chewbacca’s outfit and LEGO Style. LEGO also described a Star Wars Island to explore, with characters including an Imperial Stormtrooper, Dagobah Luke, Lando Calrissian, AWR Death Trooper and Chewbacca. These descriptions concern the 2024 update; they do not establish that the pass, island content or individual rewards can still be obtained now. LEGO’s Fortnite page covers the game tie-in and separately promotes physical LEGO Star Wars products.
What came to Battle Royale?
The launch report named Dagobah Luke with Yoda Back Bling, Lando Calrissian and an AWR Trooper outfit, alongside Star Wars quests. Fortnite’s official announcement, as reflected in its indexed search result, said the Battle Royale quests arrived in two phases: May 3 and May 7, 2024. The full Fortnite page was not retrievable, so that quest schedule is attributed to Fortnite’s announcement rather than independently confirmed from the page itself. These launch details do not confirm current item-shop rotations or cosmetic availability. Fortnite’s official news page

What did Festival and Rocket Racing offer?
Fortnite Festival
Festival received a Jam Stage inspired by the Mos Eisley Cantina, bringing the Star Wars setting into the mode’s performance space.
Rocket Racing
Rocket Racing quests could unlock an Anakin’s Podracer Decal and a Darth Maul Decal. The announcement identifies them as 2024 event rewards, not as items guaranteed to be available today. Both mode details were included in StarWars.com’s launch report.

Did players need to buy a LEGO Star Wars set?
No reviewed official launch information says a physical LEGO purchase was required to play the digital crossover or unlock its in-game content. LEGO’s page discusses the Fortnite update and separately promotes physical Star Wars sets; the physical products are a distinct offering, not an established entry requirement for the event.

The cited announcements describe what launched in May 2024, not a current schedule for quests, passes, cosmetics or decals.
