Conor McGregor was reported as expected to visit Perth for a proposed Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) event at RAC Arena on 19 July 2025. The event did not proceed: RAC Arena said the Combat Sport Commission declined the permit application. The available reports do not confirm whether McGregor ultimately travelled to Perth.
What was planned for RAC Arena
PerthNow reported on 4 June 2025 that BKFC had announced a card for 19 July at RAC Arena, with McGregor expected to visit in connection with the event. BKFC President David Feldman said, “Australia has long been on our radar,” and added, “The energy, the fans, and the venue are all perfect for showcasing BKFC.”
The announced bouts
- Proposed main event: Australian Alex ‘Godly Strong’ Simon versus former UFC fighter and BKFC champion “Big” Ben Rothwell. PerthNow described the bout as a contest for an inaugural BKFC super heavyweight title and said the proposed class was for athletes above 120 kg.
- Proposed co-main event: Bec Rawlings versus Jade Masson-Wong.
- Also named: New Zealand-born heavyweight Haze Hepi appeared on the promotional poster. PerthNow said the full bout count was not known.
These were details of the proposed lineup, not fights that took place. PerthNow’s 4 June 2025 report covered the announcement before the permit decision.
Why the event was cancelled
RAC Arena’s event listing says the Combat Sport Commission board declined the permit application. The arena stated: “Without a permit, the event cannot proceed.” As a result, the proposed 19 July event was cancelled before it happened. The listing does not give a detailed reason for the commission’s decision.

RAC Arena also said ticket holders would receive further information. Its event listing and permit update is the source for the cancellation status.
Did McGregor travel to Perth?
That is not established by the available reporting. PerthNow said McGregor was expected to visit, which described an anticipated trip rather than confirming one. RAC Arena’s update confirms the event could not proceed but does not say whether McGregor travelled. The distinction matters: the event’s cancellation is confirmed, while his eventual travel remains unverified.

Is the Perth event still on BKFC’s schedule?
No. The proposed date has passed, RAC Arena says the permit was declined, and BKFC’s current event listing does not include the Perth card. BKFC’s official site lists other events and its BKFC+ streaming service, but that does not change the status of the cancelled Perth proposal.
