Six weeks after her daughter Jaimi Kenny died, former Olympian Lisa Curry wrote about missing her and feeling consumed by thoughts of what more she might have done to help, according to a report published by PerthNow on 2 November 2020.

What Lisa Curry said about missing Jaimi

PerthNow reported that Curry shared the message on Instagram. “I miss my baby girl… it’s so quiet without her,” she wrote, according to the newspaper.

The report also reproduced Curry describing days that felt blurred and empty, and saying her mind was “consumed as to what else I could have done to help.” The account captures what she expressed in that post at the time; it does not establish the full or continuing experience of her grief.

When Jaimi Kenny died

Jaimi Kenny, the daughter of Lisa Curry and former Ironman Grant Kenny, died on 14 September 2020, aged 33. PerthNow reported the family’s contemporaneous statement that she had “lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital.” Its story about Curry’s post appeared on 2 November, six weeks later.

What Curry said about Jaimi’s illness

PerthNow also reported Curry’s account that Jaimi had been diagnosed with a “chemical imbalance” as a teenager. The article quoted Curry saying, “I know people want to know why and how, but it’s not important at this time, or maybe ever, I don’t know.” This is a reported family account, not an independently verified diagnosis or explanation of Jaimi’s death.

The report additionally referred to a later description in The Saturday Telegraph of a “lengthy and complex alcohol-related health battle,” attributing that account to Curry. That wording does not establish a definitive medical cause of death. The public accounts reported by PerthNow should not be treated as a substitute for medical records.
