Several videos and recordings connect Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan with international musicians, but the available captions do not establish a verified five-video lineup. The clearest officially identified clip is Peter Gabriel and Khan performing “Signal To Noise” live at the 1996 VH1 Honours concert. Other documented connections include Michael Brook’s studio collaborations, Eddie Vedder’s soundtrack work, a Jeff Buckley cover attempt, and a Massive Attack mix—different musical relationships, not five equivalent joint performances.
1. Peter Gabriel and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan: “Signal To Noise”
Peter Gabriel’s official video page identifies this as a live performance with Khan at the 1996 VH1 Honours concert: “Signal To Noise Live (ft. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan)”. Gabriel’s page says the recording was shot one year before Khan’s death. The song later appeared on Gabriel’s 2002 album UP.

This is the most clearly identified shared performance among the documented connections: a live clip featuring both artists, rather than a cover, remix, or soundtrack association.
2. Michael Brook and the studio albums
Michael Brook worked with Khan on two Real World Records albums: Mustt Mustt (1990) and Night Song (1996). Peter Gabriel’s retrospective describes them as modern classics. These releases document a substantial studio collaboration, but the sources cited here do not identify specific music-video titles for either album.
#1 Best Overall
Gabriel recalled Khan’s improvisational ability: “But in fact he was an extraordinary improvisor. He was capable of coming up with great melodies spontaneously.” He also wrote that Khan seemed to hold the timing, build, peaks, valleys, and climaxes in his head—or that the result was “magnificent composition” if he did not.
3. Eddie Vedder and Dead Man Walking
Scroll describes Khan’s work with Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder on the soundtrack to the film Dead Man Walking. Nusrat Online’s discography lists Dead Man Walking: The Score as a 1996 Columbia/Sony release. This is a soundtrack connection; those credits alone do not establish that a particular clip is a joint music video.

4. Jeff Buckley’s attempted cover
Scroll reports that Jeff Buckley attempted to cover Khan’s qawwali “Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai,” describing Buckley’s version as inspired by Khan. That is a cover or influence story, not evidence that the two artists recorded or performed the song together.
5. Massive Attack’s mix of “Dam Mast Qalandar”
Scroll also describes a club music mix by Massive Attack of Khan’s rendition of “Dam Mast Qalandar.” The distinction matters: the documented connection is a mix of Khan’s performance, not necessarily a jointly recorded track or shared music video.

Why the five-video lineup is uncertain
Scroll published an article with this same five-music-video framing on 13 October 2015, but its accessible text does not caption every embedded player. The subjects above are documented in that article and the cited artist and catalog sources; they do not provide enough information to confidently assign five exact video titles. Treat the list as five notable international connections, not a verified playlist of five identified clips.
Khan was a qawwali singer whose work reached beyond South Asia through collaborations with Western musicians and soundtrack projects. Peter Gabriel’s 2017 remembrance describes qawwali as Sufi devotional music popular in South Asia and recounts their shared work. For the two Brook albums, Nusrat Online’s discography lists Mustt Mustt and Night Song among Khan’s Real World Records releases; its video archives provide another artist-focused place to explore available clips.
